My first impression of Dr. Gorrin was a very understanding and warm hearted person. He really cares about his patients. rnrnMy impression has not change one bit. If anything I have more respect for him now then when I first met him.rnrnThe office staff is outstanding with the exception of one that you never know what kind of mood she is going to be in. At times she is very cold and a mean person. rnrnThis really isn't anything I can say bad about Dr. Gorrin. I had to go back into the hospital due to gas and he spent most of his Sunday at the hospital making sure I was ok. I had to spend two extra days and he checked on many times on Monday. He's the greatest!!!rnrnI would rate Dr. Gorrin at a 10.rnrnI couldn't say one was better then the other. He is the best at both. (surgical competence and bedside manner.rn

I meet my surgeon today. I really like him, thus far. He seems very direct and honest without being brutal.

My first impression of Dr. Gorrin was a giant teddy bear. He has a fabulous bedside manner and showed true compassion for my situation. He was extremely thorough in deciding what surgery to do. He was not able to do the surgery so his partner Dr. Umbach was lead surgeon. He was also fabulous but Dr. Gorrin stole my heart. He answered all my questions, made sure I knew exactly what was going to happen, and made my husband feel very secure in our decision. As far as what to do after surgery his knowledge wasn't that extensive since I was only Lap Band #5 for them. I would have liked to hear more info on post op diets and such but when they don't have it they don't have it. I was very pleased with Dr. Gorrin. If he wasn't strictly bariatric surgery I would want him as my physician. Some of the nurses commented on that during my hospital stay as well. On a scale of 1-10 overall I would rate Dr. Gorrin a 10.

I first met Dr. Gorrin at an informational seminar in July 2006. After the seminar I introduced myself and we had a short pleasant chat. My first impression was that he seemed a genuinely caring person. In September 2006 I had my first actual interview with Dr. Gorrin after I had been accepted as a patient. Dr. Gorrin's smile just eased all my cares and worries away. He answered all my questions with such ease and was so knowledgeable about his work that I felt if I had to place my life in anyone's hands this would be that person. He volunteered so much information that by the time my surgery was scheduled I really felt comfortable in my knowledge and expectations of my life ahead. He candidly explained all of the risks of the procedure I was having and gave me the statistics of the risks that he and his partner Dr.s had experienced. Dr. Gorrin's staff was so wonderfully friendly, helpful and genuinely caring. At every appointment I was always greeted with a cheerful smile and hello. What awesome people. I attended nutritional counseling prior to my surgery. This counseling gave me great insight into what to expect in my dietary needs post-surgery. All in all all the pre-surgery counseling was great and gave me great comfort in knowing I would be in good hands. My surgery went very well. Dr. Gorrin's visits were frequent and always accompanied with a warm smile and greeting. He answered any questions easily. Any concerns I have had post-surgery were always cared for like I was the only patient they had. I have met with Dr. Gorrin's partners and they each seemed just as warm and caring as Dr. Gorrin himself. For anyone seeking this surgery and looking for a competant physician I couldn't recommend Dr. Gorrin any more highly. His competence and bedside manner are awesome. I hope your experience is as wonderful as mine has been.rnThe only negative aspects to my experience has been developing an ulcer early after surgery. This was by no fault of my Dr. Becoming acustomed to this lifestyle has not been easy but knowing what to expect realistically before the surgery has made the transition much more easy.

He is very personable. He is a cut to the chase kind of guy. He was very dissapointed in me pre-op and almost didn't do my procedure because of my weight pre-op gain.rnHe is big into follow-up care and support, which I appreciated.

I thought Dr. Gorrin was very pleasant and easy to speak with. His office staff are very helpful. Dr. Gorrin's front office lead had bariatric surgery several years ago and has been very helpful as well. rnrnThis group definitely emphasizes aftercare. They don't just line us up, do surgery, and forget about us like some surgeons do. There is a structured aftercare program that I will be participating in.rnrnI think surgical competence is the most important but a good bedside manner is also important.rnrnDr. Gorrin went over every possible complication in detail and explained the surgery in great detail today as well. I am going into this surgery with my eyes wide open. rnrnI was very impressed by Dr. Gorrin's surgical skills. I had my surgery on 11/22 and I am feeling great. He is a very, very caring man, is very professional, and I know in my heart that he saved my life! I would very highly recommend Dr. Gorrin of Oregon Bariatric Center.

My first impression of Dr. Gorrin was at an informational seminar about the Oregon Bariatric Center. He was funny, sympathetic, easy to talk to, immensely qualified and genuinely caring. My first impression only improved over time, he is an amazing man & a talented surgeon. The entire staff at the Oregon Bariatric Center is like family, from the moment you walk in the door they embrace you and encourage you throughout your journey. I would so highly recommend this center, I have talked to so many people that have had this surgery at other facilities or at SH prior to Doctors Gorrin & Umbach joining the staff and I am so grateful to them for coming to Eugene and giving us a second chance at life. They are amazing physicians who truly care about their patients, our wellbeing and overall health & happiness. I trusted them with my life and they take that responsibility seriously for each & every patient. You can trust them and their staff to make this the best journey possible. We have a wonderful support group that is still small but growing, the nice part of this group is that we all started this journey around the same time so we’re learning together & we’re open to sharing our experiences with those coming next. The Oregon Bariatric Center is a well oiled machine from the first information seminar to aftercare you will be kept informed of every detail, every question will be answered and concerns addressed – it is a top notch center with top notch staff. Dr. Gorrin is a man of presence – he walks into a room and you can feel his energy; you know you’re in good hands with him as he is a gifted surgeon and a caring human being. I have nothing negative to say about the center, the surgeons are any staff member. It is a relatively new center and yes, there is room for improvement but not because of the people - only because it's new and we're still getting our support group organized- that's not a negative thing.
