* What was your first impression of him/her?rnrnI was very impressed with her professionalism. Her demeanor showed she really cared. She was very thorough when explaining the entire process and I felt she held nothing back; I appreciated the honesty.rnrn * How did your impression change over time?rnrnEvery appointment she was the same caring thoughtful doctor. My impression never wavered from the opinion that I selected the right surgeon.rnrn * How would you describe his/her office staff?rnrnVery kind, very caring. Always attended to my requests in a timely manner. Made me feel comfortable through the entire process, and fought the insurance company for me.rnrn * What did you like least about him/her?rnrnCan't really answer that. Nothing ever stood out as a bad experience.rnrn * What should future patients know about him/her?rnrnTrust her and her staff. She is very good and her staff will fight for you (insurance.)rnrn * How much does he/she emphasize aftercare?rnrnAftercare was stressed a lot. I feel very comfortable with what I have to do; she has prepared me greatly.rnrn * Does he/she have a structured aftercare program?rnrnYes. Including support group.rnrn * How did he/she address the risks of surgery?rnrnShe was up front and honest. That is all anyone can expect. She never tried to down play the risks.rnrn * How would you rate him/her overall?rnrn10 out of 10! Thumbs up! 5 stars! I'll never go through it again, of course, but I feel I picked the right surgeon the first time!rnrn * Which is better, surgical competence, bedside manner, or are both great?rnrnCompetence, without a doubt. But that bedside manner makes the patient comfortable and that can only help make for a better outcome. Dr. Basa has both and I would recommend her to anyone.rnrnrnThis website stresses that there must be something negative about this experience as nothing can be \"perfect\". Let me say, without a doubt, the worst things I experienced had nothing to do with my choice of surgeons, but for the record, here is my list of complaints:rnrnThe catheter. I couldn't stand it and wanted it out right away, which Dr. Basa agreed to when I saw her that afternoon after surgery.rnrnGas. I seem to be a \"gasey\" person, mostly fills my pouch. This makes it hard to down all my fluids, but that second night in the hospital it was especially bad. I walked for 30 minutes and tried to use the commode, that helped a lot.rnrnPain medication. Liquid Lortab tastes horrible. But it is better then the pain.rnrnThat's it. Feel free to contact me for more info.

I was blessed for finding a surgeon like Dr. Basa to help me through my procedure. She and her office staff were always extremely professional and ready to answer all of my questions. Through out the process Dr. Basa was available to me all the time, literally. She ensured that I was prepared for this journey from the beggining and that I understood that this would not be an easyand that if this is something that I was commited to; she would provided all the proper tools to assist me in my new life style.rnrnDr. Basa asks that her patients be evaluated and committed to this life changing experience and to the care required after the surgery. She want's to ensure that your prepared for what your getting into. It's not a \"quick fix\" and I was glad to know that she cared enough to provide as much knowledge as she did. Her programs are structured and she does ask for a higher level of commitment than most surgeons I met with. This is something I wanted. I located someone who was going to put my health first. She made sure I understood the risks that came along with surgery and not sticking to the aftercare programs. rnrnI honestly feel that Dr. Basa is one of the best surgeons I've ever worked with. We still frequently speak and it's nice to know that she cares enough to just call to see how I'm doing. The hospital, hostipal staff and her immediate staff are wonderful. Tru professionals. rn
