Dr Stanish and the Healthy 4 Life team are all awesome! My favorite is the nurse Laurie. She has helped me through so many hard times and setbacks. I love this team. My surgery was 8/23/2013 and I lost all together over a hundred pounds.

All I can say is WOW...the whole "Healthy 4 Life" program is awesome. All the doctors and nurses and dietitians are amazing. I had my surger RYN 2/7/12 and I am now down 69lbs. Its been 7 months and I feel fabulous...Dr. Stanish was wonderful. He is a no nonsense, right to the point, kinda guy but I found him to be honest, caring, and very much on top of his game. I wasnt looking for hand holding, I was looking for someone top in his field and I found him. My friend worked as a surgical tech for him and highly recommeded him to me. She also had the surgery performed by Dr. Stanish.I have had NO issues what so ever. I listened and followed his direction perfectly and all went beyond my expectations. If you are looking for a surgeon who is top in the field of bariatric surgery then Dr. Stanish is your man. If you need hand holding his caring staff is always ready. I highly recommend using "Healthy 4 Life" and their excellent program. I am still seeing them 6 months out for diet needs. THEY ROCK!!!!

I am currently 12 days post-op from RNY Gastric Bypass performed by Dr. Stanish at St. Mary's Medical Center in Hobart, IN. So far, I have had absolutely no complications and have lost 34lbs (starting with the 2 weeks of pre-op very low calorie shakes).

My first impression of Dr. Stanish was one of indifference. However, as our doctor-patient relationship progressed, I realized that his interest lies in the success of his patients. Showing your dedication and commitment to the program and to long term achievement of your goals is important. This was most evident in the hospital when he would come to check on me at 7am in running attire or 7pm in scrubs; he is dedicated to success, you should be too. He never made light of the risks of surgery, and we discussed which type of surgery I should have at length. Originally I went to see him for a LapBand, but with research and discussion, we decided that a bypass would be the better option for me.

The program staff won my loyalty after a rocky start (during which time they were transitioning to St. Mary's from Broadway Methodist). The nurses, Dr. Shamsi, and Dr. Stanish checked on me several times each day that I was in the hospital. And at each point, I noticed the nurses held Dr. Stanish in very high regard, with almost a reverence because of the new program he brought to their hospital. I was the second gastric bypass patient done at that hospital, and the staff couldn't have been nicer.

Since I was discharged, I've seen his assistant for followup, Dr. Shamsi, and the dietician. I've made follow up appointments for next month, and they are very adamant about aftercare. Patients can call or page anytime of the day or night with questions or concerns.

I would recommend Dr. Stanish and the Wellness Academy program to friends or family looking to lose a significant amount of weight.

Dr. Stanish is a fantastic surgeon. He is no non sense! He is straight to the point. Choosing him was one of the best decisions that I have ever made. The entire Restart center staff is wonderful. I have had a couple of friends tell me that they did not have the support that I get from the restart center. The six month process before the surgery is comprehensive. You are made aware of almost every aspect of the surgery before the surgery date, and they make certain that you are comfortable with your decision. As a nurse, I must say that Dr. Stanish, Dr. Shamsi and the Restart NURSES (yes, I am biased) are fantastic!!!! They are very knowledgeable about the DISEASE of OBESITY!! If you are searching for a surgeon and a staff to help you, CHECK THEM OUT! You won't be disappointed.
I am almost 6 months post-op and have already lost approximately 100 pounds from my highest weight! I am very PLEASED to say the least!

I just finished my 6 month doctor supervised deit with Dr Shamsi.I found him very knowledgable and has a great bed side manner. But he tells you like it is.His nurse Lori is great very friendly and helpful lots of good info.
I first impression of Dr Stanish was he is a straight to the point kind of Doctor. He knows his job and does it to the best of his ablility and expects you to do the same. But I also detect a sense of humor.I am waiting for the OK from the insurance company.

First of all, I had to follow the medical doctor for 6 months for my insurance requirements. Dr. Shamsi is a wonderful, caring doctor. I enjoyed meeting with him and nurse Lori. All of the office staff are very nice and work with you. I had read the reviews of Dr. Stanish so I wasn't expecting the same level of friendliness as his staff shows. He is somewhat reserved, but I wouldn't say he is cocky or judgemental. I have lost 35 pounds on my own and so, maybe this displayed more of my committment to him. He was nice, not someone you would cry to, but I picked him because of his reputation as a surgeon. I think he has done an amazing job with the Restart Center, and intuitively, he ahs hired people who can make the emotional attachments to his patients. rnI am approved for surgery and will be getting my pre-op testing done. OR will be scheduled for mid-March....Can't wait!

I had a good vibe from the first time I met with him. I felt he was very knowledgable about what he does. My first impression was good and it continues to be good. They were very helpful to me everytime I go. There was nothing I did not like about him. He is a very good surgeon. He is very knowledgable about all the questions I had and cleared concerns I had about the surgery. He wants you to follow everything you need to do post-op on your surgery. If you want to do well and have this surgery be sucessful you need to follow his guidelines. A week after your surgery you see your surgeon. Then about every month after you see him for checkups and to make sure you are doing okay. After all he was a great surgeon and I am very happy that he was the one who performed it on me. He has great surgical competence and bedside manner.

GREAT!! Dr. Stanish and the RESTART CENTER are awsome!. Dr. Stanish was very good. He personally visited me everyday that I was in the hospital and he is very good at making sure that every service is of the highest quality. He is very detail oriented and a great Dr. I would recommend him to my grandmother and daughter.

My first impression of him was that I though he was kind of cocky, but that has changed, he isn't cocky hes just confident. He has good office staff, dont know him well enough to dislike anything about him, I think that he emphasizes aftercare adequately, I actually did become very distended and bruised after surgery, and I had some drainage, and He was on it immediatlely, I think hes great, I think he is an excellent surgeon and his bedside manner is fine, he has performed 3 bariatric surgery's in my family.
