Dr. Rantis is wonderful. I used to weigh 333 pounds, now I am 170 pounds. I referred Tom Page to him. He was happy I did.

Dr Rantis and the Kane Surgical Center are top notch. I was very pleased with their process and how thorough they are. They make you feel taken care of and that they really want you to succeed and that you are prepared from the day you decide to have surgery till afterwards. While in the hospital they were very informative and checked up on my to make sure everything was going well, and ever received a phone call the day after I was released to check up on me. This office has given me a great tool, and I would highly recommend Dr Rantis and the Kane Surgical Center. Great Group!! Thank you.

Dr. Rantis is awesome and so is Alexian Brothers Hospital! Dr. Rantis talked me into the sleeve, because I wanted to lose over 100 pounds and the band can fail in this area. Otherwise, everything was smooth. The surgery was awesome and I barely had an pain, just gas pains. I was visited by a ton of Dr. Rantis' staff in the hospital. I am 43 pounds down in 25 days! Thanks!

Couldn't have been happier with Dr. Rantis. He showed that he was truly concerned with each of his patients. Both my husband and I had surgery, my husband the lap band, and I had the Realize band. The follow up visits have been great with him willing to answer any questions you might have. Very happy we have Dr. Rantis as our surgeon.

Just saw the questions. First impression was great (at the seminar). My first impression has only confirmed over time that I was right. The staff is even more impressive than the doctor, if that is possible.

Future patients should know that Dr. Rantis is very serious about your health and weight loss. He is not just in it for the statistics.

Dr. Rantis went over all the risks before surgery with us and we were very well informed. I can say the only thing I have found that I didn't know before surgery was the percentage of success of weight loss. I was disappointed to see the stistics of the percentage of excess weight lost with the Realize band over a 3 year period. But I feel that has a lot to do with each persons commitment to lose weight and work at it. I don't beleive I would have changed my mind about the surgery had I know about this. I had my surgery on May 3, 2010 and plan on losing 100% of my excess weight. I'm hoping I can do this over a 18 month period. It has been slow so far but I have not gotten my "sweet spot" as it is referred to with my fills yet. I'm hoping that will happen in September when I see Dr. Rantis again. I've lost more than the 2 pounds per week that the Dr. advised, but I would really like to see an average of 3 pounds a week. Once I become more consistent with exercise I think I can reach that goal.

I would rate Dr. Rantis a 10 out of 10, and I'm not just saying that because I had a good experience with him. I really think that he is committed to what he is doing and that is what makes him good at it.

Surgical competence and bedside manner I think are equally important. First I would never cosider going to someone that I didn't think was competent in surgery, that is just stupid to even consider, and the bedside manner plays an important part in giving you confidence in your surgeon. If the bedside manner isn't there your feelings of competence in your doctor would fall.

Dr. Rantis makes you feel confident before surgery, on the day of surgery and after care at the office visits for your fills.

Dr. Rantis was a very sweet guy... he put me at ease right away he explained everything to me including the risk involved. The office was very neat. I am very confrontable with him being my surgeon.

The Kane Center in Hoffman Estates, IL is a "Center of Excellence" - a four surgeon group with a comprehensive practice covering many disciplines related to WLS. I feel comfortable that I will receive quality after care at the center, which is so important to long term success. I met with Dr. Rantis for my consult. Kane staff is very pleasant and professional - and VERY good at getting you approved! :) The various tests and insurance requirements are all laid out for you in sequence, with referrals to physicians. The practice is very focused on WLS, and it shows! Good pre and post surgical seminars and support groups are available - some are even required before surgery. I highly recommend the Kane Center.

I love Dr. Rantis! He's a great guy and a great surgeon. He answered all my questions, kept me up to date on everything I should know and is a \"no bull-shit\" kind of guy. His staff is fantastic. Very caring and considerate. I would reccommend him to anyone in the Chicagoland area thinking of having the gastric bypass surgery. I always look forward to my appointments with him or his staff.

While the Dr's at the Kane center are great before and right after surgery, good luck getting follow up care quickly afterwards. I have had nothing but trouble getting blood test results and getting people to return my phone calls. I am VERY unhappy with them and wish that there was someone else I could continue with for follow up care!

My first impression of Dr. Rantis is that he knew this all forwards and backwards. He gave an impressive seminar. rnHe is super smart and I feel totally comfortable with him and have only seen him a few times.rnHis staff is WONDERFUL WONDERFUL WONDERFULrnHe hated my purse. :)rnHe makes you feel at ease and he'll explain things to you in ways you can understand and he answers all of your questions.rnHe and his staff stress aftercare a lot. They'll keep tabs on you.rnThere is a very structured aftercare program for you to take advantage of.rnHe addressed surgical risks very clearly.rnOverall I would rate Dr. Rantis a solid 10!rnHe's so great and I would say surgical competence is more important than bedside manner but luckily for Dr. Rantis's patients he has a firm hold on both.
