Dr. Nair is the consummate professional. He is an excellent surgeon, dedicated to providing a healthy new life for his patients, and willing to spend extra time making sure his patients have all the knowledge they need for this life changing procedure. His staff is warm and welcoming, funny, supportive, and kind. I am so thankful I had this procedure.

You can not ask for a better doctor than Dr. Nair and his staff. He is not just the best surgeon, but also has the best staff that makes up a complete center where all aspects are covered. From the planning to the surgery to the post op care and group support. He and his staff are there for you. They make you feel welcome from the first day. Dr. Nair is very approachable and has a great sense of humor.

Nothing but positives for Dr Nair.

My first impression of him after the introductory meeting for all patients researching their options was that he is passionate about what he does. Later I learned that the Weight Loss Surgery program at our hospital is his baby. He brought in another amazing surgeon who had more experience with the Lap-Band. They are both serious about what they do.

Over time my impression of Dr Nair and his staff has only changed in that they are more like a part of the family. When you have a lap-band, you do have to have more followups. Luckily I work close to our hospital so this has not been a problem. I've actually appreciated the followups as everyone there has been so supportive of my journey.

Future patients should know that he comes across seriously because he takes this seriously. He does not want to see someone screw up the work he has invested in them. This is not a paycheck for him. It's his life's work. One person I know was not happy with him, but they were someone who was not following the rules & advice from him and his team. I've heard others feel he was a bit serious in the pre-op phase, and he was. Like I said, he doesn't want want some patient in there who is going to go through all of this, lose the weight, and then mess it all up by blowing all the rules afterwards.

Dr Nair's aftercare program is structured to the point where they ask you to sign a contract prior to your surgery which is your committment to the followup care for at least 5 years. It's obviously not a legal/binding contract, but they hold up their end of the bargain. They want you to as well.

Surgical risks were presented in the intro group meeting, during the first initial consult and again at the preop. Overall he is a great doctor. We got off on the wrong foot at one visit but we worked it out.

I went with Dr Nair for his surgical competence. I just feel he is the best for what I need. Bedside manner? It was fine. I remember him coming by (barely) in postop & checking on me a few times (I had some low BP issues and insulin surges), and he came by my room once that night & then the next day for discharge. Really though, a great bedside manner is a plus. When it comes down to it? I want a surgeon who is great in the OR. If we can build a good doctor/patient relationship afterwards? That's awesome. But a good bedside manner is useless if you have an incompentent surgeon.

All of us who have spent time with Dr Nair know his mantra that any of his surgeries are a "tool". They are not the end all, be all. The rest of the work is up to us. His team is there every step of the way when you need them.

I met Dr Nair at the information meeting I attended, and again at my consult appointment. I found him to be very easy to talk to, nonjudgmental, and also very informative. He seemed to anticipate my questions before I asked, and was ready with answers that satisfied me. His staff is wonderful, always taking the time to answer any additional questions I may have, without making me feel like I am an interruption to their day.

Dr. Nair is the kindest person anyone could every ask to talk to about your weight. He is understanding and shows you his concern about YOU.rnOver the time that I have been preparing for surgery he has been fantastic and explained everything to very well.rnDr. Nair Bypass team are all easy to work with and they will answer all your question for you. If they don't know the answer they will reseach it until they are happy with there finding and then tell you. rnThis team is a group of people that have the willingness to help you when you are ready to help yourself.rnHe is concently reminding you that you have to take care of yourself cause your the one that has to control your weight. He is very strong on telling you that this surgery is just a \"TOOL\".rnThere is a aftercare program and they have you sign a contract stating that you understand this and that you intend to follow it.rnDr. Nair explains all of the risks at the oreintaion and then again at your first Doctors visit. Then he explains all of your test results so you understand what is happening to you personally.I feel that Dr. Nair and his team are a #9 ( I have to give them room to improve or change a little)rnTo me surgical competence and bedside manner are very important to a patient. If you don't like these things then you will not have confidence in your surgeon. rnAt this time I only have one comlaint about Dr. Nair and that is that he dose not start counting your weight as of when you start the program. He starts it at the time of your surgery. This is not fair cause you have worked really hard to get what weight you have lose.rnOther than this he has done nothing to upset me.

He doesn't hold anything back and will give you straightforward answers to your questions. He truly cares about your follow-up care and your progress.rnAftercare is set up at the beginning of the program. With follow-up appointments at regular intervals 1 week, 2 weeks, 6 weeks, 8 weeks, 12 weeks, 6 months, 9months, 12months, 18months, 2 years and then yearly after that for 5 years total. He strongly emphasizes aftercare along with lab work at the above mentioned intervals toornVery structured aftercare program and also a very structured pre-op testing and carernHe did a complete information session and listed all the possible compications and the percentages of each risk and even deathrnI would rate Dr. Nair as a top notch surgeon and wish there were more out there like himrnI feel that it's the combination of the two that make for a great surgeon and a great surgical experience.

I loved my surgeon. He was so caring and protective of all his patients. The office staff was very professional and helpful throughout the entire process. He has a very structured aftercare program which includes meeting with the dietician on a regular basis. She was awesome. I liked best about him was that he came to see me several times in the hospital throughout my stay even on a holiday. Dr Nair is very detail oriented and has a great bedside manner, I know because I work directly with him in the OR. He treats all of his patients with the up most respect.
