Greetings! Thanks for reading my review of Dr. Lutfi!
My first impression of Dr. Lutfi was that he was a well-dressed, good-looking, Type A, man's man(lol). All superficial qualities, all qualities I like.
Okay, seriously...he seemed VERY informed, aware and sympathetic to the issues of big people. He has a sense of hummor, which I truly value in ANYONE I am going to have any type of personal relationship with (the man has seen me completely naked in surgery!) He takes time to answer questions wholly and throughly.
He will call you to the carpet BLUNTLY if he feels you're slacking or not taking things seriously. He got on me about somethings I wasn't giving enough attention to in his opinion. At first I was a little taken aback--how dare he? But, I've grown to understand that he is passionate about his patients and strives for excellence. I dare not fault anyone for that. I have a lot of that myself.
His RN, Psych and Nut are all personable, extremely knowledable, and very easy to talk with and like. The first time I met all of them, I had a ball laughing and talking with them. I'm usually pretty private, but I felt comfortable opening up to them. Heck, they had already seen how much I weigh, what was more private than THAT?
Another thing I was impressed by was Dr. Lutfi's hospital accomodations. I can be a bit pretentious at times (okay, alot, but not to the point that it's sickening)--I work too hard to be in subpar accomodations. Dr. Lutfi's patients are given private rooms, overlooking Lake Michigan, Lake Shore Drive and a golf course (it may just be a driving range, but it was still a beautiful view of my city).
The nursing staff while I was in the hospital was A1. The nurses told me that Dr. Lutfi and his staff HAND PICKS the nurses that can interact with his patients. This attention to detail shows as they were THE BEST of THE BEST--very caring and amenable to my needs. With the IV in my arm, I had to go to the bathroom what felt like every 1/2 hour all through the middle of the night. My RN came, unhooked me in the middle of the night, walked me to my bathroom, walked me back, rehooked me to everything and tucked me in.
Overall, my Dr. Lutfi experience has been IMPRESSIVE.
Signed,
Cyd Chicago
A lady who is not easily impressed.
PS: Dr. Lutfi even impressed my MOTHER (not many people succeed there), and I got all of my pretentiousness from her. LOL.

My first impression of him was that he has a great deal of compassion and very respectful. He tells it like it is.rnMy impression over time is still the same, he is a highly skilled surgeon. He did an extensive fellowship doing the LapBand procedure. rnrnLeast I like about him, is that he tells me what I need to do!rnrnHe strongly emphasizes aftercare, and has a structured aftercare program. The aftercare program involves Registered Dietician, Support groups, and of course meeting with him regularly. rnHow he addressed the risks of surgery is by using a stomach model, utilizing the lapband, how it is placed on, how it is filled, the dangers of what can occur during and after surgery. Discussed the percentages of all the risks that occur. Is well \"read\" regarding Medical research and lapband procedures and outcomes. rnrnOn a scale of 1 to 10, I would give him a 10.rnHis surgical competence and bedside manner are equally outstanding.
