Dr. Ramos-Kelly Bariatric Surgeon
Dr. Ramos Kelly and his wife are a special 2 of victory. I was very well taken care of, while satisfying not only my wants but also my needs. Dr. Ramon Kelly is a very wonderful surgent, this was how I felt; I just had a surgery and I felt like leaving right after because of the up most care and the loving hands of their team handling me professional. Very nice couple from the time of speaking to them to the end of my start of personal journey. Mrs. Kelly was very helpful; she took her time to take me to get my Guardian Angel Tattoo, with also having a complete make over which led to me becoming the Beautiful Butterfly I feel as if I have become today. Can't leave out the man that gave me the will power to follow thru, Mr. Heath the one that helped and guided me through it all. To others wanting to know why or just curious because you are looking for an answer. With always being one of the bigger ones of the bunch might have bothered me when I was younger but accepting the fact, I became Big Sexy the table turns and I became Big Unhealthy, so with the surgery it was the greatest choice of my life and do not regret it one bit, I've had my fair share of eating whatever and whenever! If one thing I learned and still learning is as long as you love yourself the path of knowledge and happiness will overcome those bad days when you feel as you have to give up, but DON'T. Taking care of yourself is one of the easiest and cheapest ways to love who you are, you just have to find your "why".
My experience was very good with Dr Ramos Kelly and his team. I had my surgery at Clinica San Juan in Tijuana on Jan 15th 2018. Everything went very smoothly. I required a drain due to some excessive bleeding during the procedure, but I feel this actually helped alleviate my gas pains post surgery a lot, so in the end it was almost a good thing to have the drain. Staff at the clinic were very kind and compassionate. Teresa was my favourite nurse, she was so friendly and attentive and really listened if I was uncomfortable, and tried to adjust things so I was more comfortable. I do not at all regret my decision to have my surgery with Dr Ramos Kelly. He is very personable and was able and willing to answer all my questions, post op as well. The area where the clinic and hotel are located is very nice and my mom, who accompanied me, had a lot of good selection for lunch and dinner spots while I recovered which I was happy about because I wanted her to be comfortable. I am 9 days post op and have already lost about 10 pounds. This of course will slow as my diet increases. I'm still on my recovery diet. I feel really positive and excited about the future and my weight loss journey. Again, I have no regrets in choosing Dr Ramos Kelly and his team, I'd definitely do it over again if I had to make the decision again. Thank you so much for everything you guys have done for me! <3

This physician is AMAZING! He not only cares for his patients, but also provides outstanding care.
Dr. Kelly is board certified in the US and Mexico. His training and experience is second to none (as a transplant surgeon in Michigan) and I have since learned that he trained several of the physicians in TJ.
The follow up has been beyond my expectations and the results have changed my life. I trust him so much that I brought my 73 year old mother back to get weight loss surgery with Dr. Kelly!

Hello,
I will like to share my experience with Dr. Ramos Kelly, I had my surgery about 8 months ago and so far my experience has been great. The staff was AMAZING and very professional, they answered all my questions and I also had a couple of phone consultations with Dr. Kelly (about 20-30 minutes each one, no surgeon in the states will ever do that for you as a patient). I review all his credentials and affiliations to all Bariatric associations, we should look at that while reviewing a surgeon. Everyone at Clinica San Juan was very caring and nice to me. And it breaks my heart to see the negative reviews, I was one of the two patients he had schedule that day, while speaking with I asked: How many surgeries you perform per day? His replay was 4, for a better personalized care, so I don’t think 7 is true. To anyone who has doubts, move forward with the surgery, his staff is super helpful and he is an amazing surgeon. One thing most people forget is that this is a major surgery not a walk in the park, again place the trust in your decision. Best of luck !

Dr. Kelly did a VGS surgery on me on 7/29/2016. Follow up, even while in Mexico, was limited and follow up from him or his staff once I got home was non existent. Emails wet unanswered. I was concerned about the stabbing pain I was experience in my lower left abdomen, plus I was just not feeling well. I went to my GP who sent me to Emergency. On 8/15 I was admitted to hospital and tests revealed a gastric leak -- a very serious complication. The hospital stay was 10 days, during which time they placed a stent in my stomach in hopes that it would support the tissue to heal and close the leak. The stent makes me want to throw up all the time and makes it impossible to be comfortable. There were 2 pockets of infection in my abdomen, one of which required a longer drain time so I got a drain coming out of my back with a bag to drag around with me for 3 weeks! On top of that when I was discharged from hospital it was with home care, a PICC line for two IVs: TPN (nutrition) and antibiotics. Once home, one of the incisions developed a pustule which burst and that drained for a week. At first Dr. Kelly told me there was no way there could be a leak. I am lying in a hospital bed, being told by several doctors that I have a leak, and somehow Dr. Kelly -- miles away in TJ -- knows better than they do. When I sent him pictures of the leak, he had no choice but to agree that there was a leak. He said it wasn't his fault, must have been my fault for not following the post op diet. What kind of a surgeon (professional) says that to a patient? I had followed the diet to a T. When I posted my experience on his so-called 'patient support' website, he reminded readers that they had to sign an Informed Consent to have the surgery and to be sure to read it. In other words, hey patients these kinds of complications happen and you should be aware of that. Then a day later my post and the over 60 responses disappeared from his website. Deleted. So, you can't trust his closed FB group to be anything other than a promotional tool for Dr. Kelly. To wrap this up, I am scheduled to have the stent removed in 3 days. I hope it worked and I can get the PICC line removed and get on with my life.

Hello there dear readers. My name is Jessica. I have not had the opportunity to give Dr. Ramos Kelly the review I promised myself I would. First let me start off by saying that it was the reviews on this web site that helped me decide which Dr. to use. My cousin had the surgery last year (2014), she was 200 plus and I noticed she was looking much thinner then the last time I had seen her. She explained she was desperate to loose weight and one day got online and researched Gastric Sleeve Surgeries. As many of you may know there are several websites that annoyingly pop as soon as you hit search. She called the one that appeared five or six times on the same window, Weight Loss Agents! So, naturally, I wanted to call them and schedule my surgery with them. My daughter however was having the surgery as well, this changed everything. My husband was not to keen on the idea that we go and put our lives in the hands of a Dr. we knew nothing about. This lead, to three months (off and on) of research. I read about the procedure it self, risks, the bougie (prounounced BOO-zhee) size, the kinds of staples and other important details of the surgery. I then stumbled on this web site and read some disturbing information about, weight loss agents( the staples they use are not F.D.A approved among other things). I read on different web sites about Dr. Ramos , and how he is an experienced bariatric and metabolic surgeon. So I called and spoke with Heath, he mentioned the F.D.A approved staples, how he double stiches and uses air pressure to check for leaks before the surgery is over, and followed by a second leak test( like a barium swallow). He also mentioned the TWO night stay at the hospital, as appose to one night, where my cousin stayed. To make a long story short, I knew that he was the Dr. I would trust with my daughters life, and mine of course. We were scheduled for surgery on May 26! Jorge picked us up at the border. ( we left our car in a long term parking lot). We drove across and went straight to Angeles Hospital. We sat in the waiting area, and met the anesthesiologist. We then, went to another room to start the paper work and get our vitals taken. Then I realized I had left EVERYTHING in the waiting area, I ran back to get my purse, and realized my wallet ( with 2,000 dollars) was gone! I was sure I had left it on the Starbucks bench in San Diego, where we were waiting to be picked up. I panicked, I then got a phone call from Ceci (Dr's. wife) she said Jorge found it in the van, on the back bench where I was sitting. I was soooo relieved, I thought my surgery was cancelled. Thank you Jorge for being so honest! Well soon after, I spoke with Dr. Ramos and felt even more at ease, I knew God had blessed us with the perfect Doctor. My daughter went in first, about and hour and a half later she was waking up and I was going in. We both had a terrible reaction to the anesthesia, we were throwing up ALL night. The nausea was so much more unbearable, than the discomfort ( no pain really) from the surgery. The nurses were very kind and vigilant with us. The next morning, Dr. Ramos and Ceci came in to check in on us. I mentioned what a horrible night we had, and the Dr. asked the nurses to give us a different medication to control the nausea. It wasn't to much of a relief, but it did minimize the symptoms somewhat. Two days post op, we were headed to the bigger hospital for the swallow test, I was nervous because I was still so nauseous, I thought, I was going to throw up as soon as I tasted that "disgusting" drink I've read about. Well to my surprise, it wasn't disgusting at all. I kept the drink down and my beautiful daughter and I were all clear of any leaks! We were now headed to the BEAUTIFUL Lucerna Hotel. Not everyone has a horrible reaction, there was a beautifully sweet lady, that had surgery right before my daughter. She rode with us for the leak test and hotel. She had absolutely no vomiting, nor nausea, she was very blessed. I told Ceci that even though I wasn't throwing up I still felt horribly nauseous. She said that she would go get a stronger medication and would be by later to give me a shot. . Ceci was back a few hours later and with in an hour of getting the shot, my nausea was gone! later that night, Dr. Ramos came to the hotel to check on us. It was then that I realized that not only is he a brilliant surgeon, but also an amazing humanitarian. We chatted for a bit. I was able to see that he has genuine love for his patients, and is fully aware that many of them take out loans to cover the cost of the surgery. Which he explained is why he ALWAYS puts our needs above cost. Many other Dr.'s In Tijuana opt to use Chinese staples to save money, However Dr. Ramos wouldn't compromise the health or life of his patients in order to make a bigger profit. Thank God. We recovered so quickly, and felt so much better, that we stayed just one night in the BEAUTIFUL hotel and were ready to be taken back across the border by 9:00 a.m. the next morning. We are now one month and four days post-op. My baby is down 32 lbs. , and I am down 30 lbs. We are so grateful to God for allowing us to find Dr. Ramos and grateful to Dr. Ramos for remaining loyal to what is in his patients best interest. If you haven't chosen a Dr. yet, do your own research, and you'll find yourself calling Dr. Ramos Kelly, the best Tijuana has to offer. Thank You Dr. Ramos and Thank you Ceci, I pray you will always be blessed in all of your endeavors.

I wanted to write this a few weeks ao and just haven't had the time. I had surgery with Dr. Ramos-Kelly on 7/18/14. Everything went without a hitch. Im just over 3 weeks out now and have lost 15.5 lbs. I feel great. I haven't had any pain. I had the opportunity to meet several other patients while down in TJ and they also had positive experiences just like myself. I want everyone to know that Dr Kelly's website is www.drramoskelly.com There are a lot of gypsies out there trying use Dr. Kelly's good name. Everyone in Dr Kelly's circle was friendly and professional. Hotel Lucerna was very nice. I used Nova Medico Hospital that is older, but very clean and had a friendly staff. If you can afford a couple thousand more--you'll love Angeles Hospital as it state of the art and looks like a retreat. If you have any questions that you'd like to ask me about my visit and experience, don't hesitate to email me at [email protected]. I will respond promptly. Dr. Kelly was the right choice for me.

I had the vsg (sleeve) done by Dr. Ramos-Kelly on 25 March 2014. I am a little over 2 weeks out and have lost 16 lbs from my pre-op diet to today.
I cannot say enough good about Dr. Ramos-Kelly. He is an amazing, compassionate, component, and experienced bariatric surgeon.
My husband had the sleeve done in October of 2013 and had researched several doctors. He choose well with Dr. Kelly and has now lost over 50 lbs. He no longer has high blood pressure or sleep apnea and runs circles around me.
I had this surgery at the Hospital Angeles and am totally satisfied that I choose the best hospital for this procedure. Hospital Angeles is extremely clean, well staffed, and peaceful. All of the staff were kind, patient, and caring. The facility was so quiet, you think you are in a hotel room instead of a hospital. I had the best care possible and always I had very quick response, if I needed anything. Hospital Angeles costs a little more than Nova, but to me, it was worth every penny. The staff was professional, most spoke English, and the equipment was what you would see in any of our great US hospitals. I was in good hands the moment I arrived until we were dropped off at our vehicle in the US.
Dr. Ramos-Kelly is extremely patient and so very willing to answer any questions. He visited me prior to surgery and spent a lot of time going over every aspect of this surgery. He put me at ease about the procedure and his personal demeanor is exceptional.
He again visited after surgery and explained everything that he had done. He brought his family to visit us at the hotel and spent a lot of personal time with us. He is kind, compassionate, personal, and extremely experienced as a surgeon. I have had many surgeries and Dr. Kelly shines as a person and surgeon. I came to completely trust him and his extremely high level of competence.
Looking back, both my husband and I chose the best surgeon for our sleeve surgery. Dr. Ramos-Kelly met me in my home town, while he was attending a seminar, here in the states. He speaks impeccable English and is accredited in the US with cardiac trauma. That is a plus for any patient who has any heart issues and chooses to do weight loss surgery. Dr. Kelly also has Canadian and USA citizenship. He has roots in both countries.
Going to Mexico for this surgery was a stretch for me. I am so glad that I did this and had the best of care with Dr. Ramos-Kelly and his staff. His price is a little higher than some, but I was treated as a valuable person and not as cattle. Remember, you often get what you pay for.
Thank you, Dr. Kelly for the respect, care and great results!
