Randy Haluck Bariatric Surgeon M.D.
I am nine days shy of 46 months post-op. I am thrilled and extremely thankful to Dr. Randy Haluck. On 05/23/14, Dr. Haluck changed my life forever. I have not one day of regret. I feel thankful every single day when I open my eyes. I don't believe there is enough praise and thank you's in this lifetime that could explain the level of thankfulness I feel for Dr. Haluck. His staff at PennState Hershey Surgical Weight Loss continues to be supportive whenever I have a question about anything. I keep up with my vitamins religiously and do my best, although I am not perfect, to follow every lesson given to me for the many months leading up the RNY Gastric Bypass. It was worth the wait. Bariatric surgery is never something you want to rush into. Read, read, and read some more. Never be afraid to ask questions!! Listen to the lessons this facility teaches. If you seek a facility that does not offer this waiting period and wealth of information, along with a complete medical and psychiatric review, I would encourage you to walk away. If you are looking into surgery, I highly recommend Dr. Haluck and his staff. They are skilled, knowledgeable, and available.
Dr. Haluck is a wonderful, highly-skilled, straight- forward surgeon. He took the time to explain my options, my procedure, and answered all of my questions before scheduling me for surgery. After the surgery, Dr. Haluck stuck around until I came to. He made sure to tell me everything went wonderfully. Again, he asked me if I had any questions. He put my mind at ease. I highly recommend Dr. Haluck. He is exactly the kind of guy you would like to have performing such a delicate procedure. I cannot thank him enough for all he has done for me. He has truly blessed me with the gift of a 2nd chance at a truly healthy life. I am very happy with Dr. Haluck and his staff.
4 years later 10/7/2012 - He must have done a great job! I am 4 years out now and I am still at a great weight with no significant gain. I haven't had any physical problems since surgery. I'm quite happy with my progress. I would encourage anyone in the area to go see him. Everyone is different and I realize I had to work very hard to keep his work intact. Good LUCK!
I am 5 months out from surgery with Dr. Haluck. From what I can tell he did a great job. He came to see me right after I woke up after surgery to say it went \"beautifully\". That was nice. Some of his surgical assistants and even the anesthesiologist came to say it went well. That made a groggy woman feel good. Dr. Haluck is a funny friendly doctor and he treats you with respect. He took time to answer my questions and his staff was supportive and attentive. All Hershey patients have a great before and aftercare program that is available to them. It's is stressed and structured. Over all I would rate Dr. Haluck a 9 (Nobody is perfect). I love his sense of humor.

So I nicknamed my surgeon \"Twitch\" he comes off as very high energy and direct. But if you ask the questions he takes the time to answer them. I felt very confident with him. He will not give you warm and fuzz feelings and quite frankly I am not looking for that in a surgeon. He was a good fit for me.
Being a curious person, Dr. Haluck took the time to explain in detail to me what would occur during the surgery. Between himself and his surgical staff at Hershey Medical Center everything pre- and post operatively went smoothly.rnrnMy surgery was a laproscopic RNY bypass. Dr. Haluck also repaired a hiatal hernia and removed excess fat from around my esophagus at the same time. I experienced absolutely no fever, nausea, vomiting, or other problems following the surgery. I required no pain killers and at worst any pain was no worse than an overworked muscle or an extremely mild belly ache. I was up and moving about easily (but slowly) the next morning following surgery. I was allowed to go home 1 day early since i was doing so well!rnrnI made it a point to follow my surgeon's advice to the letter!rnrnDuring my stay Dr. Haluck came to see me the next day and the evening of the operation. A member of his surgical team always came by at least twice and sometimes 3 times a day to monitor my progress. I could tell he and his staff took great pride in their work.rnrnI would rate Dr. Haluck as a fine surgeon. I truly have no complains. The Milton S. Hershey Medical Center is also the finest hospital to which I have ever been admitted- a very caring and responsible staff.rnrnThis review is being written on August 11, 2008. My surgery was August 4, 2008.rnrn
Dr. Haluck is a very professional, courteous doctor. I had heard some bad reviews about him pre-op but I was pleasantly surprised. He didn't an excellent job on my surgery. Actually, there was such a large surgical team that during my 3 day stay in the hospital, I think I only saw Dr. Haluck once. This might bother some people but it didn't really bother me. Some people are concerned when they don't see their actual surgeon. As long as I'm taken care of and am getting sound advice or direction, I don't care if it's my surgeon or his assistants. All in all, I had very positive experience with Dr. Haluck.
Dr. Haluck was friendly, but rushed.I mostly saw his resident Dr. Nain. They were both very business like and repeatedly assured me that my case was "textbook." The office staff was all adequate and have gotten back to me in a timely manner. It feels like they do so many that I was just one more body going through. I chose this program because they have done so many, but it was not a real intimate experience. They give alot of handouts that have the information you need, but you are pretty much left to you own care. I was not too bothered by this approach because I am very well read. I think a lesser educate person could become lost in this program.
I am very happy with my surgeon and all aspects of the weight loss program. I did plenty of research and have never had any surgery before so I was very interested in laproscopic prodecure. He was wonderful. My girl friend and I went on this journey together. We had surgery the same day by Dr Haluck. We were room mates and did extremely well. We had surgery on a Monday and we were discharged Weds afternoon. The staff at Hershey Med has been wonderful. I have developed strictures though. They are stumped as why I cannot eat. I have had four dilations - 13.5 mm After talking and reading I feel I need to be dliated at least to 15. I go on July 6th. I would do over again. No regrets. Just can't eat!
