I met Dr. Simon on Tuesday, he is wonderful! He has a great bedside manner and he also explains every step of the process of the surgery and the after care, he even drew pictures of the procedure. The risks were explained and the benefits, I give him an A+ as a surgeon and his staff the same. The staff could not have been nicer. They took their time with me and explained everything to me in detail. I met with the program director, the dietician and the nurse the same day as my initial consultation, I really recommend Dr. Simon to everyone that is considering this surgery!

My first impression of Dr. Simon was that he was very nice and extremely thorough, and that did not change over time. His office staff is extremely friendly and very helpful with the one having had the surgery herself, which she is 5 years out now. He is a very serious doctor and if you are not 100% sure you want to have this surgery, than you probably should not. They are pretty thorough with their aftercare program. Dr Simon has a paper that he gives you with a list of every single risk or complication that can stem from the surgery, and he goes over every single one with you. He would get an overall rating of outstanding from me. His surgical competence and bedside manner are both great. One negative thing (not extremely horrible) that I would have to say is when I went back for my 3 month post-op visit and I asked him about the hair loss, he kinda laughed and told me that if it got to bad to buy a wig (I'm pretty sure he was kidding, but not sure). I didn't really care for that, but luckily I had already talked to his office staff and they said that he usually recommends Zinc.

Dr. Simon was wonderful. He told me right from the beginning if your not going to follow my instructions, if your not going to take the necessary vitamins, if you can't change your eating habits, etc. etc. Please turn around and walk out that door. He made sure I fully understood the risks involved with having this type of surgery. He continued to remind me how risky the surgery was but also gave me percentages for positive outcomes. My first impression of Dr. Simon has never changed. I fell in love with his humor, sensitivity, bedside manner, and over all care and concern for each of his patients. What Dr. Simon does, is not just a job to him, he really cares about his patients and the outcome they receive. At the Livlite office in Kane, PA all of his staff was very friendly, encouraging, and ready to answer any questions one might have. If they didn't have the answer right then and there, they would contact you with an answer in a timely manner. There is NOTHING I disliked about Dr. Simon. I trust him with my life. If there is anything I can tell you when making a decision on where to go for this surgery, I would STRONGLY suggest Dr. Simon. I really don't think you would ever be disappointed. I will admit when I first saw the hospital I thought O' my what am I doing. But I knew my surgeon was good. I had so much confidence in him from the first time I met with him. I can't say enough good about this man. He has changed my life and made me a better person. When I go back to his office for my follow-up appointments, he always has a smile on his face and makes me laugh. When my husband got back from Iraq, he went to one of my appointments and he even commented on how smart and pleasant Dr. Simon was. I honestly CAN NOT come up with one complaint regarding this doctor. His surgical competence and bedside manner are wonderful. If nothing else, give his office a call and just talk to him. I would almost bet that from the first time you meet with him, you will fall in love with him and his honesty. rnrnPs... My mother was so against me having this surgery expecially in a small hospital, but when she met Dr. Simon during my consultation, she changed her mind immediately. She told me on the way home that she didn't know why but she had more peace with what I was doing and had a lot of confidence in Dr. Simon. My whole family loved him and the care he gave me.rnrnGood Luck

my first impression was he was funny but direct and to the point. The office staff is very friendly and supportive. he stresses very much on aftercare and follow up. office staff calls your house weekly to check on you. during the consultation he went over all risks associated with the surgery with handouts drawings etc. i would rate him a 9 on a scale from 1 to 10. i would say his surgical competence and bedside manner are both great. not super talkative but answers all questions and concerns.

He was very funny and senative. oh boy he is great and i couldnt had found a better one this way. He emphasize a great deal on after care and he and his staff make sure that you understand that it is very important after care. Oh he addressed it a great deal that it is very serious and risky. He is a 10 from me. well everyone is very freindly and kind to you and is very happy that you are doin this and do tell you that this is risk to take but after the surgery you will feel a whole lot better and glad that you did it. and will write more on this later. Well like i said he is the best Dr. ok he has a great bedside manager. He will do what ever he can do to make you feel like you are and person and understand that you are in pain and try his darness to deal with it to get you comfortable as he can. Well I would tell everyone that ask me about him that is for sure.

My surgeon was Dr. Jim Barnes. From the start, he has always shown interest in my needs and given the best advice. Before surgery he sat with me as long as I needed and answered all of my questions regarding the surgery. After the surgery he did the same. I did not have any major complications so I did not really need him as much as someone who had complications but he always made me feel like I was the only patient he had that day and he had all the time in the world. The only problem I had with my surgery was I developed a bad cough/cold and I was in ALOT of pain from the coughing. I thought it was crazy to call him with questions about that since it wasn't a surgery-related problem but he was very understanding and prescribed me some medication which helped a lot. I appreciate him very much. He seems very dedicated.

Really Like Dr. Barnes and also, Dr. Granger who will be assisting with the surgery, although now that it will be a lap, it will probably be the other way around. UAMS has been so kind and patient.
The doc and staff are "real" people too...I like that.
They have a great support group too!
I would recommend everyone going to them!!!!
