Rex Sherer Bariatric Surgeon M.D.

I haven't met Dr. Sherer yet, just mailed my papers back to his office. Waiting on his office to call me for an appointment. I've heard lots of wonderful things about him and his office.

I AM CALLING ON JAN. 13, 2001 TO GET AN APPOINTMENT WITH HIM. HEARD MANY, MANY GOOD THINGS ABOUT HIM. BUT HAVEN MET HIM YET.HEARD HE IS VERY BUSY AND TAKES ABOUT 2 0R 3 MOS. TO SEE HIM. HOPE NOT. MAY AHVE TO CALL WALLS IN HUNTSVILLE AND SEE HIS SCHEDULE I CALLED DOCTOR CASONS OFFICE AND THEY DO NOT HAVE AN OPENING TILL JUNE, AND I CANT GET AN APPOINTMENT TO SEE IF REHAB IS GOING TO PAY TILL I TALK WITH THE DOCTOR, IT IS JUST A VICIOUS CIRCLE. I WILL NOT GIVE UP THOUGH. UPDATE: have received paperwork ffom Dr Sherer and filled it out, plan on sending it off tomorrow 2/12 and hope to have an appoiintment soon.

I have yet to meet Dr. Sherer-for I have my first appointment with him on Dec.5th, I can say that his staff has been very helpful and fast with everthing. I had called the office to try to get an appointment and they explained to me that they had to send a packet for me to fill out and sent back... Well I mailed it on a Monday and the office called to setup my appointment on a Wed. I was so shocked. So far everthings been GREAT.

Well just alittle update on things, I had my Dr's appt. and it went well!..... Dr. Sherer
and staff are wonderful people. I am now waiting on my Ins. to see how things are going to be handled. Jan, Dr. Sherer's nurse is so nice and friendly... Boy was I shocked when she weighed and measured my height... (sure thought I was taller than I am) If you have noticied--- My BMI is now 79.4 Not something to be happy about but maybe it will help me get approved!.

Dr. Sherer is a very kind person. He may be very slim in appearance but he is very understanding to our problem of obesity! I truly believe that he saved my life! I was extremely nervous going into his office that first day, but his staff was waiting for me and they are all really nice people. He put me at ease by doing most of the talking before he started asking me questions.
After the surgery and he comes around to see you he spends time with you, does not make you feel like he is in a hurry and does not have time to spend with you answering your questions.
I was sent home on a 1000 calorie diet with a list of example meals which I find very helpful. I don't find my aftercare program too hard to follow as long as I follow the rules.
I honestly do not have anything negetive to say about Dr. Sherer or his staff. I feel like the went above and beyond for what they did for me because I was also having problems with my heart rate dropping during the night and they would not discharge me until I had seen a cardioligist to find out what the problem was, which turned out to be sleep apnea.
