My first and lasting impression of Doctor Greenberg is a man of immense compassion and wisdom, a skilled, meticulous, seasoned surgeon with superior credentials including Board Certified in Colon and Rectal Surgery. He immediately elicited my complete confidence. With his CRS expertise, I figured he knew the best way to hook up my new GI tract to optimize and maintain weight reduction and absorption of nutrients with minimal chance of any surgical surprises. His demeanor assured me there would be no break in concentration during my surgery. I was right. When I initially contacted him, I had some special circumstances which he embraced. I considered it a mitzvah that he fit me into his busy schedule, and my surgery was completed within three weeks of my initial contact. Dawn Osborne is his Clinical Coordinator and has lots of education and experience. She listens intently, and excels at educating patients, answering questions, solving problems and driving home the importance of following all the aftercare guidelines which are extensively detailed in the printed reference material provided to the patients. I can't tell you how many times I pulled out my packet and found the answer to my question or a solution to my problem. Kelly, another outstanding member of Doctor Greenberg's staff, is very smart and makes herself available. She empathizes with the patients and is very supportive and caring. Doctor Greenberg and his staff are all gentle and kind, and I felt they appreciated that I was trying to work as hard as they did towards the same goal - my improved health. During the year prior to my surgery, I consulted with four of the top surgeons in the Philadelphia area, and I have many acquaintances who have had this surgery performed by them. Doctor Greenberg and his staff continue to be at the top of my list. No number is large enough to adequately quantify Doctor Greenberg's surgical competence and the consistently excellent results he achieves for his patients. Prior to my surgery, I had a constellation of medical problems and required 15 oral meds each day plus 90 units of insulin. One year post-op, my only med is 18 units of insulin per day, and my labs are all within the normal range. My energy level is over the top. And I'm an old woman. Doctor Greenberg's compassion and surgical expertise provided me with good health and a quality of life I neither experienced nor imagined during the 53 years of my old life. In this new life, I anticipate at least 53 Great Greenberg Years. You should, too, if you choose him to be your surgeon. I would even encourage you to expect a miracle!

Consult completed.
I really have no impression of Dr Greenberg at this time. I hardly spent 10 minutes with him although I did find his clinical coordinator, Dawn to be very pleasant. She made me feel very comfortable. She made sure I understood everything including the risks, benefits, and any of my concerns.
If you are a smoker, stop now, they won't give you any kind of surgical date until you are smoke free for 2 months!!

Well, I now have a date set for 9/30/2003!! As for my impression of Dr Greenberg........ I feel much more comfortable about him now. I think the first visit with him was just formality (I was not his patient, nor him my doctor. As far as he was concerned I might not have even been serious about this surgery and wouldn't be until I returned 2 months later for the follow up appointment). He was much more personable and made sure I q's answered and told me not to hesitate to call if I had more q's.

Dr Greenberg is a wonderful person to deal with and I would recommend him to any and all considering Gastric Bypass/and any type of general surgery! His office staff were nice to deal with, mostly I dealt with Dawn Osbourne who is the surgical coordinator. She is who I speak to when I have any concerns or problems and returns my calls quickly. I think she is Dr Greenberg's right hand. Kudos to Dawn!

So far my impression is he's very straight forward and business like. Some people are put off by a business like demeanor and so I kept that in mind and just went with it and asked my questions. Dawn he's surgical nurse handled most of the questions and she was very thorough and straight forward about hernias, gallstones and what she didn't know. I had a lot of prepared questions.
The office staff that day seemed like there were new nurses in the office but they were very friendly and helped each other answer the questions. There was someone to answer the phones, handle the patients for Dr. Greenburg and Dawn and nurses to check people in and handle the insurance information. The office is comfortable and well spaced but cozy for starting conversations between pre and post ops.
Einstein and Dr. Greenburg do not have support groups but they have listings that they strong suggested I take part of.
Dawn was very adamant about the blender regimen and following the follow up schedule and what to expect post op 2, 3, 4, 6 weeks out. The addressed the risks of surgery and after surgery risks and showed a video discussing and explaining each risk and the causes. Dr. Greenberg noticed I have facial hair and asked if I had PCOS before I could mention it and whether my PCP sent me to endocronologist and that he wants me to see one to make sure the surgery is necessary. He's short in stature but didn't have that complex of having to dominant the space he's in. I get warm and fuzzy from my PCP because we have a relationship, I got professional and non condesending from Dr. Greenberg.

My first impression was that he is a very busy, but professional man. The office staff is friendly. Dawn is very nice, but can come accross a little short in person. She tends to anticipate the question and does not always listen to the actual question. Maybe she was just tired today. It was very busy. Aftercare is important to their program and full committment is mandatory. Risks of surgery are gone over at the first visit (mostly by videotape) but you are encourage to do your own homework. Well informed patients will be schedule for surgery quicker. I felt he seemed confident and I felt he had respect for me in particular and obese patients in general. He seemed kind, but not a big hand holder (most surgeons are NOT) and his post op patients seemed thrilled if not glowing.
