I had to travel 250 miles and was a little concerned about follow up care. The surgery went well with no complications. Pain was kept well under control. So far follow up care has been great. They asked me to call once a week and have asked good questions and been very responsive to mine. Dr. Tillquist has a calm and quiet bed-side manor which made me comfortable. His certified nursing assistant, C.J. has been knowledgable and very helpful.

Richard Tilquist, MDrnWas AWESOME, kind, swift, and steady. CJ, the Nurse Practitioner at his office was my biggest support there, both before and after the surgery. She even came to see me the mornng after.rnrnBoth bedside manner and surgical competence of Dr. Tilquist are incredible. I have had no complications related to the surgical procedure itself. The incisions are small and few.rnrnI'm looking forward to my first follow-up with the team on 12/15 and will keep everyone posted of my results.

Waited a month to be able to get in to see Dr. Tillquist, and very impressed with him and his whole team. With him not being the first doctor that I had met with about having the surgery that would save my life, he was able to answer all the questions that I had, and for my sister that went to the appointment with me. Very professional and compassionate during the appointment. The after care that he wants and strides for his patients is the most intense I have come across. Which is a very good thing, the more help and monitoring is there, the better I will succeed in my journey in weight loss. I will recommend him to anyone that wants to have a personal touch with their experience and not be just another number or patient on the list.rnrnNow that I have had my surgery, I know without a doubt that Dr. Tillquist was the right choice! Wonderful to talk to, bedside manor was exceptional! He put all of my worries to bed, and had a successful surgery. I would recommend him over and over to anyone who wants to have this surgery!

I have not yet had my surgery performed by Dr. Tillquist but I am very excited to have him as my surgeon. rnrnPrior to finding his office I was going through another surgeon....I wasn't getting any information and I felt like I wasn't sure what was going on.rnrnMy mom found Dr. Tillquist's website and helped me write an e-mail in the \"contact us\" section.....Within 1 week I got a call from Eileen and CJ. The moment I spoke with both of them I knew I was in good hands. rnrnCJ tracked my 3 month diet that is required my insurance and gave me all the materials I need to get prepared for surgery. rnrnEileen NEVER sounds annoyed when I call and knows exactly what I am needing when I ask for it. rnrnrnWhen I met Dr. Tillquist, he was a very nice guy and answered all questions that I had. rnrnI feel safe being in the care of their office.....rnrnI am just now waiting on insurance to approve my surgery and will finally get to begin my new life <3rnrnrn

Dr. Tillquist is the best. My surgery went very well and I experienced very little discomfort. I was out shopping with friends two hours after the surgery.

Dr. T is such a sweet man. I believe he has saved me from myself. However, he is such a sweety that his patients can do anything and that's ok with him.

I went to go see this surgeon back in May...
First, he refuses to do any other surgery but the LapBand on people with certain insurance companies... odd I know...
Second, he has horrible bedside manner and shows no concern or compassion with your questions and is very rushed to get you out the door.
Went through the entire program only to find out that he refused to do my surgery in a timely manner because I have Factor V and he obviously has no experience or knowledge of Factor V.
Dr Johnell also refused to work my PCP and Radiologist. At that point, I decided I needed to find a different surgeon.

Since then, I am now post op and have had my AGB done by a great and more experienced surgeon, Dr. Richard Tillquist whom I highly recommend to everyone I come across. He is very confident, knowledgeable and has great bedside manner.

I haven't met him yet, I will meet him next week. The office staff is great though. Eileen put up with me calling more frequent then I am sure I should have, and CJ has answered every question I have come up with.rnrnThe book they sent me home when I met with CJ the first time has been very helpful. They send me to the nutrition classes as well which was eye opening, and really laid the foundation for my success I believe.

Everyone in Dr. Tillquist's office is an angel. When I first went to see Dr. Tillquist at a seminar he and CJ gave about weight loss surgeries, I was at the lowest point of my life and coincidentally, my highest weight. I was 317 lbs at 5'9\". So, I decided to make a change for the better in my life. I was tired of being winded from walking just a little bit and tired of my knees aching from just a little bit of activity. I wanted to exercise again! I went to see Dr. Tillquist and met with him and CJ. They never looked at me with judgement or cynicism, only understanding and empathy. They knew what I have been going through because they have seen it so many times before. They gave me every piece of information my little brain could handle and all of the tools for me to make my decision if it turned out I was qualified. rnrnOnce it was determined that I am a candidate because of my asthma and severe arthritis in my knees, Eileen did everything she could to help me along the way to getting approved. Finally, after a little bit of a struggle, I was approved! Then, in September, right before my surgery date I had a setback when I got a weird infection in my abdomen out of nowhere. Eileen did everything in her power to get me scheduled again as soon as I was cleared. rnrnI had my lap band surgery on 11/14/07 and as of today, 4/15/07... I am down 50 lbs. The aftercare was wonderful and I look forward to my visits to get my band filled so that I can update them on my status. They are always so pleasant and friendly, it makes me feel right at home.rnrnI am so thankful to Dr. Tillquist, CJ and Eileen for their help. Without them, I wouldn't be the brand new me I am today... and continuing to grow as I shrink. rnrn
