Robert Berger Bariatric Surgeon M.D.

I * highly * recommend this surgeon. With the exception of eating less, I have had NO problems at all with anything. I don't feel like anything in my life has changed. Whatever Dr. Berger did, he should bottle it and sell it. His after care is exceptional, his nursing staff is also exceptional. I would rate this surgeon an A +++++

My first impression of Dr Berger, to be completely honest was that he was SO YOUNG. I met him actually at a WLS seminar he spoke at here in Flagstaff.
Afterwards I went up to him, I told him I didnt want to be rude , and that I realised that eventually I'd get to the point that all my doctors are younger than me, but I wasn't expecting him to be so young. He chuckled and assured me about his experience and after talking with him I felt 100% comfortable.
The first appointment I had with him was the clincher. I had been seeing another doctor and even though I had had a few appointments with him all they ever consisted of was an 'across a desk' chit chat session. Dr Berger actually examined me, and talked with me (not at me).
My prior experience had been that the other doctor felt Ineeded to have some tests done, but he never scheduled them. Dr Berger immediately went out, and had all tests (EGD, sleep study etc) scheduled before I left his office.
His office staff is firendly and extremely competent. They always have treated me with respect and sincere compassion.
His insurance specialist got the denial and immediately turned it around and got it approved back to the original date of my first submission date. I got approved based on the requisites then, not to what it had changed to during my most recent submission.
My surgery was scheduled quickly and I look forward to finally having this surgery I ahve waited so long for.

Dr. Aldrige is my surgeon but he is not on the list....
Ok, I went on November 9th to meet Dr. Alderige for the first time in his office. I thought he was a wonderful man for being so young (36) He was very informative, he was the one who did the seminar the evening before, and was very knowleagable and what he didn't know Dr. Berger was there to assist him with. I believe it would benefit more people to go to Dr. Alderige because he takes his time to help you and to answer any and all questions you have and goes over every aspect you have with the surgery and even explains the surgeries that you won't be having so that you know what is going on....I am very impressed with him.....

He's a very nice guy ,young but had a very good run with this surgery he came from chicago, His office staff is very friendly you call they answer and get things done I would recommend anyone in my area who is looking at get wls to contact Dr. Berger. I know I'm in good hands....

Dr.Berger is the best. Thank god he left chicago for flagstaff. He is a very caring surgeon who takes time with his patients. He is very pleasent, has great beside manner, and makes you feel at ease. He is also a fighter willing to take on anybody who gets in the way of his patients best interest. My surgery came out great. At no time did I need any extra pain meds. He also has great team behind. His nurse nancy is excelant as well as his office personal. I can't give enough praise to this man and his team. They are A+++++.

Dr Berger and his staff have to be the best at what they do in this country. He has moved from Chicago to Flagstaff Arizona and boy did we luck out!!!

Very nice young man. Felt very comfortable at first. Staff is a little rude.... but warmed up after a while. Extremely though. Aftercare is a big thing with this office. All risks explain (and tested). So for a 9 out of 10. More later...

OK after surgury now 2 months... I give him a ten out of 10!!! It took a long time to get in to see him. But once in I have been treated very well. He is great. Always made me feel at ease. Very understanding. He is young, but don't let that scare you. He is very knowledgdable and has a wonderful sense of humor. Refreshing for a surgeon! Great aftercare program.

My surgery will be done by both Dr. Berger and Dr. Horgan. I was very impressed with both doctors. They are knowledgeable and have my best interests in mind.

The staff is excellent. They follow up and call when necessary and helped me tremendously, especially Celia.

My only complaint is that the doctors are always hurried, which can be expected.

I have nothing negative to say about the staff or either doctor, they are all great.

Dr. Burger is absolutely wonderful. I had some anxieties before I met him, but the first time I met him, I felt very comfortable with him.
I have nothing but praises and good words for Dr. Burger and his staff. His bedside manners are great. He treated me like an individual and with respect. He answered all my questions thoroughly.

Future patients should feel very comfortable with him.

He addresses the risks of surgery one-by-one without downplaying anything. He is not only an excellent surgeon, but a very nice young man. I think his parents raised him well.

These are my opinions which came from my personal interaction with Dr. Berger and his staff.

I met Dr. Berger June 16, 2003. From the moment I met him my mind was at ease. He was one of the nicest doctors I've ever met. He was very thorough, and took time to explain to me in detail everything, even though I already knew. He made sure I was aware of all the risks and benifits. Made sure any question I had was answered.

His office staff.. hmm well from first impressions it wasn't that great. The ppl at the reception desk werent that helpful.. The whole registration process was kind of confusing and disorganized for a first time patient. Besides that, everyone was very nice and personable. The nurses were very nice and answered quesitons for me. The nutritionist, Vanessa was very very nice and informative.

Aftercare was stressed. It's a life changing operation and he made sure I was aware I was changing my life and not just my body.

Dr. Berger sat and listed every single possible complication and risk from the surgery and possible after surgery complications.

I really like Dr. Berger. 1-10... so far I would rate him an 8.. let's see how the surgery goes..

Well his bedside manner is awesome! He made me very comfortable with him as my Dr.
