Dr. Shinnerl was/is wonderful. He takes time with me at my appointments and did a wonderful job of my surgery. His staff is top notch.
JUST LIKE EVEYONE ELES,I THINK DR. SHINNERL AND HIS STAFF ARE AWESOME!I FOUND IT SO HARD TO BELIEVE THAT THIS THIN DR. WOULD HAVE ANY UNDERSTANDING A AN OBESE PERSON. I CAN TALK TO HIM ABOUT ANY PROMBLEMS OR CONCERNS AND HE CLEARS IT ALL UP FOR ME AND I LEAVE HIS OFFICE FEELING GREAT. I FEEL HE GAVE ME A NEW LIFE,AND I'LL NEVER FORET HIM!
WOW! He was an awesome individual, and so easy to talk to. It showed me by the way he talked about his paitents how much they really mean to him, and how important they are as well. He made me feel good about who I was, and wanted to be, yet to also let me know that I am not a failure because I am overweight, but yet also that their is a cure out their for that, and for most obiese people surgery is the only option that will help them if they want to live a longer life.His office staff were the same. They were very helpful, and made me feel so at home. He is a very easy going guy, and he does not beat around the bush. He also answers any questions you may have with a honest answer. And if he didn't know something, or couldn't answer something he told me, "I don't know what to tell you it might be", so at least he didn't just make something up he answered me honestly. He was very precise about what can happen by having this surgery, but guarenteed me he would save my life, and do the best job he could do.I would give him a 10 plus so far, haven't had the surgery yet so will beable to tell more later.
Dr . Shinnerl takes time to spend with you and answer all your question re surgery andhas a very detailed preop consent form to sign . I have worked with dr. Shinnerl berore and am very pleased with his training and bedside maner . His office staffis very friendly and ready to help out and answer andy question you have . Dr Shinnerl spends lots of time learning new procedures and learning lap proceedures. has 2 support groups avaible for pts
I met with Dr. Shinnerl on 3/19/04. He is the absolute greatest!:) He spent over 2 hours with me, talking & exam. Sherry, his office manager is really an upbeat person & you don't feel put off by her at all, she is friendly at all times:) And Jo Dr.'s nurse if FANTASTIC, such kind help in his office.
I would recommend Dr. Shinnerl to anyone considering surgery. He is kind & patient & most important VERY UNDERSTANDING.
Due to me having a mild heart attack in Dec. he has decided to perform surgery in Sioux City. I had my choice of hospitals & I chose Mercy, they have a brand new bariatric wing. Dr. Shinnerl also said HE would be the one visiting me daily also, which will be around 60 miles one way for him.
Dr. Shinnerl has a 10 PLUS rating from me.
Dr. Shinnerl, wow what do I say about this guy that would do him justice. Ok, how about this! With my insurance company, I had a choice, to go to someone in the network to do the surgery for me and they would pay 90%of the bill, or I could pick someone not in the network, and they would only pay for 70% of the surgery. Well, Dr. Shinnerl, is not in my network and neither is the hospital he will do my surgery at. But, after really looking around for some time I came to the conclusion that he was the surgeon that I felt cared about me and was very good at what he does. He has such a great personality. I really believe he is one of very few doctors in this world that, really care about what they are doing for their patients more than the money they use to line their already thick pockets. He will be the first to tell you that, love helping people have the wls. And you wanna know something I found quite funny? He is married to a dietician who at first didn't believe, surgery was the way to help anyone to lose weight. They needed a good excersize plan and a healthy diet and they could overcome this,overweightness. But, as he has told myself and others, she has finally seen the light and realizes alot of obese people have the weight as more of a illness than just being lazy or eating all the time. Anyway, I still have not had surgery, it is however real soon, but, I just can't say enough about him. He is a wonderful man and doctor.
Joe, his nurse and all around right hand, is just as great as he is. She makes you feel like there isn't anyone else in the office but you. You can really tell she cares. And as great as I have talked about these 2 it is no wonder that they are always booked and so full that is just would make your head spin to know how many patients he sees just in one month. They are very professional people. And we can not forget the wonderful and caring Sherry, from up at Dr. Shinnerl's office. She is so helpful and patient. You talk to her alot when you are being impatient for the response from the insurance company and you call the poor woman a few hundred times a week. And every time she talks to you she is just as nice as the time before.
One thing you should know about the doc though is, he will not do surgery on someone who is a smoker and will not stop for surgery. Him and his staff beleive very strongly in this and I doubt they would ever budge on this matter. I would rate him as a 10 out of 10 doctor. Overall, I am sure it will be the same, but, we will just have to wait,huh?
Dr.Shinnerl was wonderful.He answered all of my questions and really made me feel at ease with everything I had to ask.
I still feel the same as when I started, He is a very caring and helpful doctor. I would recommend him to anyone.
Can't says as I disliked anything about him.
That he is a very caring person.He makes you feel as though you can ask him anything and he will be glad to take the time to answer.
He is very wonderful with after care.If we ever have a problem we are to call him day or night.And he will be there.
He went over everything with me about surgery. We covered all the risks witch I knew most of them.He really put me at ease.
I think that he is a wonderful doctor.He makes you feel as if you can count on him .He really explains things when asked questions.I would also like to mention his nurse is wonderful too.She is always there for us girls day or night.She is the most wonderful person.
Dr.Shinnerl Is a great dr, I found him to answer all my questions to my satisfaction,and always took the time to listen, his and his nurses bedside manner is wonderful and i feel i can contact him at anytime day or nite and he would listen to me ,and see to it i had what i needed, I highly recommend him to anyone.
