I had my gastric sleeve 02-09-2015, best decision I've ever made. I've lost 70lbs!
I was so scared because I had heard so many horror stories about surgeries in Mexico so I did a lot of research, watched a lot of videos and basically stalked Dr Verboonen until I had made my mind up. I have been in healthcare my whole adult work life and have had previous surgeries and I can honestly say I had better care with him and his team than I've had here in the US.
They went above and beyond not only with me but with my husband who traveled with me for my surgery. If you want surgery and either don't qualify in the US (like me) or don't have insurance that will pay for it I would highly recommend Dr Verboonen and his medical team.

Hello, my name is Casey and I have battled my weight all my life. Going back all the way to kindergarten I was picked on for being the fat girl. Growing up I had tried every diet possible, took unhealthy pills and worked out. I never could get a handle on my struggle. After having my daughter in 2012 I knew I had to make a change for myself and my family. I had heard about a group of woman from my hometown going to Mexico for weight loss surgery. They all looked wonderful and said they had a great experience.
I contacted International Patient Facilitator's through their web site. My patient facilitator, Sheri, walked me through every step of the process and answered all my questions. My husband and I traveled to Cancun Feb 20th 2014 where Dr. Verboonen performed vertical sleeve gastrectomy. It was the best decision I've ever made! In just 5 months post-op I've lost 97 pounds. I can run, hike and most importantly play with my daughter. I cannot being to express how life changing this whole process has been. I feel so free in my body. Free from worrying about what I can and cannot do or what I can or cannot fit in. I have a new outlook on life and I know I will now live a long, healthier life.

Dr. Verboonen has been an important part in making this process so wonderful. He is so personable, friendly and willing to answer any question I've ever had about anything. I have never had better care than what I received during my time in Mexico. I felt like a person instead of a number. I felt like Dr. Verboonen and his staff truly cared, and the thing is it's not just me. A month later my aunt and mom traveled to Cancun for the same procedure. They both felt the same way. I highly recommend Dr. Verboonen and International Patient Facilitators to anyone considering having weight loss surgery.

Received the best care from Dr. Verboonen and his crew. Totally professional they explained everything the facility was clean. Our nurse took excellent care of us. In 5 months I have lost 65 lbs and am will on my way to the new me!

I had surgery with Dr Sergio Verboonen on march 14 2014 and have lost over 90 lbs. He and his staff were wonderful. They have helped me with any questions or concerns I had. Even now I know if I needed anything he would do his best to help. The only regret I have is not doing this 20 years ago!

I am now 1 year post-op VSG with Dr. Verboonen. I have lost 175 lbs and I fit into normal sized clothes. My only regret in this entire process is that I didn't do it 5 years sooner.

I think Dr. Verboonen was great. My daughter and I had surgery the same day and when she had a problem in the middle of the night in the hospital he came right away. He has stayed in communication with us after our return to the US and answers our questions very quickly. I would definitely recommend him to a friend.

I had my VSG with Dr V in 11/19/10 and it was by far one of the best decisions I have ever made. Dr V was there to answer all of my questions and to guide me through the entire surgical experience. Sheri, patient coordinator, was always there and on top of things and she made sure that my every need was met. Eric, our drivr, was always attentive and VERY patient and I thank him for that. My surgery was done in Cancun at Gallenia Hospital and it was quite a pleasant hospital experience. I liked the fact that when I hit the call bell someone actually was there within a minute and there was no voice over a loudspeaker asking me what I needed. The nurses were wonderful and everyone really works alongside the docs as a team. I would say that Dr V surgical competnece was excellent. His bedside manner was wonderful though I must admit he is a little shy at first. Overall, I had a wonderful experience with Dr V and would highly recommend him to anyone considering WLS.

I have spoken to Dr. V on the phone. He was very patient and listened to my questions. He answered every question very thoroughly, and said he would be glad to pray with me before the surgery. He put me at ease and I look forward to meeting him face to face.

But in Cancun, not Tijuana.

I was impressed with Dr. V from the start. He is very caring and made me feel like I was in great hands. He appeared to be a very humble man. His staff is excellent! From the other surgeons to the nurse, they were all super! Dr. V. has very good bedside manner and his surgical competence and experience rate a 10. I would have liked more precise info to bring home, more clear written instructions but I plan to follow up with a surgeon and a support group in my area. I do have the option of contacting the facilitator through email but I still would have liked a better structured aftercare program. Overall I am glad that I trusted Dr. V to perform my surgery in Cancun, Mexico.
