Dr Schecner called me may 22, to let me know that my ins company gave the ok for the sugery. and the office staff was great!! they helped me so much.. they also have a great aftercare program.
Doctor Schechner is the best! Very professional and Very experienced (over 2,000 procedures). Knows this stuff inside and out! Builds confidence in his patient as they proceed through each phase of the decision process and then the actual procedure. A true medical asset for the Rest of Your New Life!! Doctor Yancy his associate seems to complement Dr Schechner's practice well. My wife and I were extremely impressed by both Doctors!
Office staff is great. They prepare you well for fully understanding Pre-Op needs and Post-Op life style. They work hard for you to get approved and for your success. They are very compassionate.
The entire practice continually emphasizes aftercare for life........at no charge unless it involves a surgical procedure! They have weekly Support Group meetings and have a set number of revisits planned for the first year Post Op.
Prior to my surgery Dr Schechner was very precise and articulate in addressing risks of surgery. He answered all my questions before I could ask them. He tells you the TOTAL STORY!
If I had to rate Dr Schechner and associates I would have to give them a 99 out of a 100.
Dr Schechner is one of the nations best at bariatric surgery. He was a pioneer in these type surgeries and has changed with time, knowledge and experience to now perform only the Vertical Roux-N Y Gastric Bypass and does not take the more ratical approaches to WLS available because he thinks it jepordizes his patients! As I said he is the best of the best and that is why people from all over the country come to Norfolk, VA to have the procedure done!
He was great! He has a wonderful staff and great bedside manner. He remains consistent with what my first impressions was of him.
What I least liked was not being able to keep him to myself to visit with me in the hospital. i guess I'm spoiled like that.!
He is a good surgeon and he will address your concerns as long as you need him to. The aftercre is wonderful. The staff works directly with you to encourage you and the support group each week is great. All risks were dealt with and he did not try to force my decision. I would rate him Excellent in all manner of medical care and psot-op care.
I haven't met Dr Schecner yet--but Gretchen was wonderful and very supportive. She described everything that I would need to know about what to expect before, during and after sugery. I do look forward to meeting Dr Schecner.
I got to meet Dr Schechner on feb 10th--he was great! Very informative and funny. He explained everything and I feel that I am in good hands. I like the fact that his treatment planning is individualized and not one size fits all. Thank you Dr. Schechner! Also Jenny and Gretchen are great!!! Thanks to them too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-)
i have not meet him face to face.we did talk on the phone when we scheduled my surgery.he was very nice and tried to some juggling with scheduling to get in on 1/26/00 instead of1/31/00.he couldn't do it.i'm scheduled 1/31/00 at9:30a!
1/28/00 yesterday i went for my pre-surgery testing and my pre-op visit. Dr. Schecner was
very pleasant and funny.
He explained everything to me and made me feel good about myself. Most doctors make me feel like I'm a fat cow. He did not.I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a doctor in this area.
I went to my initial consultation today spoke only to the nurse. She explained everything to expect when you go to the hospital on the day of surgery, and about the procedure. Also she told me that they not only have support groups once a month, but also follow up on patients that they don't hear from for awhile. I thought that was excellent. She also said we would have all the materials we needed about aftercare before our surgery. The doctor doesn't see you until the surgery has been schelduled. He then will tell you about the risks of surgery.
Dr. Schechner is a very pleasent person to deal with. He is very sincere and cares greatly about his patients. The office staff is great (all very devoted to the cause). He believes in follow-up for life and has a support group that meets locally every Monday nite.
Dr. Schechner is wonderful. Very compasionate. He explains
everthing so you understand it. He answered my husband's questions
Quecthen is the counselor I spent 2 1/2 hours with. She's so sweet.
She's tough though. Says they call her the
Quecthnator. Dr. Schechner has patients come from around the world.
