I was quite impressed with Dr. Bock, nice, warm, friendly bedside manner and his knowledege of the surgery.

My impression has not changed.

His office staff was very warm and friendly.

Nothing, I like him.

I trust him to do my surgery.

Alot. Aftercare is an important part of the program and my success.
Yes

He was honest about this. He told how many patients had actually died.
Great!

Both are important to me.

When I first met Dr. Bock at the pre-surgery orientation, I immediately felt at ease knowing he would be performing my surgery. He has a great smile and just comes across as a very down-to-earth, good natured guy. After listening to him speak, it was very obvious that he really believes in the surgery. I also reviewed all other patient comments on him and all had nothing but very positive things to say about him.

Today, I'm just in awe of his dedication and hard work and am forever grateful for what he has done for me.

Dr. Bock is awesome! My husband and I had surgery 1 week apart. Dr. Bock saved our lives! My impression of Dr. B just gets better and better. The GHC staff is awesome. We were very pleased with off of them. The aftercare they offer is so valuable and it really works and has helped me loose. The aftercare is very is pretty structured and I think you need that after the surgery. Patients should know that Dr. Bock cares. He wants you to succeed and he and his staff will do what they can to help you. Dr. Bock did go over the risks with us and we knew it would be work. GHC has a great program. I would reccommend it to anyone. on a scale of 1 to 10 I would rate Dr. Bock a 15! His beside manner and competence are great! I know it sounds to good to be true but I really don't have anything bad to say about Dr. Bock his staff of GHC.

My first impression was unsure of Dr. Bock, however that changed when he started asking me questions about why I wanted to surgery. He has an excellent reputation and he was out on a leave for awhile however I chose to wait for him and am very glad I did. He is the most compasionate anc committed doctor I have ever been involved with. I was hospitalized a 2nd time with a minor infectiona nd he took care of me like I was his own child. He made sure I recieved good care. His office staff is very supportive and caring as well. It is evident that Dr. Bock likes what he's doing and although he expects a strong committment from you, you can count on him for anything as well. He really emphasizes changing your eating behavior as well as becoming as active as you can. I would recommend Dr. Bock to anyone and on a scale from 0 (being the lowest score) to 10 I would give him a 12!

He was very polite and professional. My surgery went very well with no complications and I was home in 2 days!

I first met Dr. Bock during a mandatory patient education seminar. He is very personable, knowledgable, and kind. Even though he has never suffered from obesity, he actually seems to get it -- to understand what it's about to be obese. We spent much time talking about the surgery and risks involved. Because I have met him only once, I cannot comment on his bedside manner or give a further impression. However, given the fact that his practice is both as a surgeon for bypass surgery as well as an oncologist, I'm already convinced he's a man who cares.

Dr. Bock seemed a little reluctant (generally) the first time I met him. He did not seem confident that I would be able to make the necessary lifestyle changes that accompany the surgery. He also seemed concerned that my husband would not provide enough support and / or would try to sabotage my efforts since he did not want to come into the room to meet Dr. Bock and preferred to stay out in the waiting room. He did eventually say he felt I was a good candidate for surgery and it was "good" that I am fat all over, not just through the middle. (The first time anyone has said anything positive about my fat ankles!) The office staff through group health is incredible, and the aftercare is the best (and most expensive) I have ever heard of. Aftercare is the primary focus of the entire Group Health Program. They tell you up front that the surgery only last 4 hours and at that point it is up to you, so they try to provide as much support as possible through the first years post op. Group Health also emphasizes the need to participate in a support group of peers. The surgical risks and record of complications & deaths are openly discussed at the consultation.

Dr. Bock is wonderful. I have never heard anything negative about him. His staff is exceedingly helpful.
He puts his patients first.
Under his program at Group Health, WLS patients are required to participate in a 12 month program with a nutritionist by phone. Other patients have told me this was definitely the best thing you can do.
I am aware of all the risks not only from what he has told me, but all the research and reading books and articles on the internet and elsewhere.
I would rate Dr. Bock overall excellent to this date.
He also performed a lumpectomy for me about 6 years ago. It turned out great, and no one can ever see the scar when they are doing my mamograms!

I am very impressed with Dr. Bock. I like the way Group Health does many tests prior to surgery, and knows you very well prior to committing to the surgery. The aftercare is vital. We (Group Health members) are required to have a nutritional consultant work with us for a year after surgery. I feel that is very important and will be most helpful. Dr. Bock did hurt himself and all surgeries were delayed, but I chose to wait for him rather than be referred outside Group Health. I felt they had done all the pre-testing and would make me more comfortable. I believe surgical competence is more important than bedside manner, but Dr. Bock has both.

I am in the process of getting approved for surgery with Group Health in Redmond, Washington. I was denied after my first letter and will be appealing that decision this week. I can't meet with Dr. Bock until I've been approved for surgery but I hear he is wonderful!
