From the very first I knew this guy would be the surgeon I was looking for. My sister went to him 3 years ago.. and a distant cousin and his wife also went to him. Dr. Cahalan is direct and to the point. He REALLY cares about his patients. I could not have been more pleased with the surgery. I hardly bruised so I know they were careful. His STAFF... are GREAT!! The nurses at Mercy Capitol were GREAT as well. The aftercare began the following week!! I know I will be able to count on this staff to follow me through for months to come. KUDOS staff and DOC.. thanks for a GREAT start!

I REALLY FELT SO COMFORTABLE WITH DR. CAHALAN RIGHT FROM THE 1ST APPT. HE'S VERY PERSONABLE AND PROFESSIONAL AT THE SAME TIME. I REALLY ENJOY HIS STAFF, THEY ALL ARE SO NICE AND MAKE YOU FEEL SO AT EASE. THERE ARE NO DUMB QUESTIONS AND THEY WILL HAVE THE ANSWERS. I GIVE THEM ALL A RATE OF 10.

I am Dr Cahalan. I have always had a strong interest in laparoscopic surgery which is how I became interested in the RNY Gastric Bypass. In the last 5 years our group has performed over 500 surgeries with minimal complications. I have really fallen in love with Bariatrics by getting to know my patients. They are some of the most determined and hard-working patients I have ever treated. I hope all that read this have a good outcome, no matter where you live. God Bless.

I have nothing but good to say about Dr. Cahalan and Mercy Capitol Weight Reduction Clinic. They thoroughly addressed the complications beforehand, even to the point of giving prospective patients a pop quiz. They made a point of telling us that we will never be released as a patient of the clinic. In short they were committing to us for life. It may seem like there are a lot of hoops to go through, but in retrospect I feel they are worthwhile. By the time I completed the classes, the psychiatric exam, and sleep study appointmentsand was approved I was scheduled for surgery in just three weeks. On release from the Hospital, the doctor gave me his cell phone number so I could call him directly if there were any problems. I call that committment. The rest of the staff of the clinic are every bit as caring, and are easy to get a hold of. The Nutritionist has told me more than once that all I have to do is call if I have any questions or problems, even to the point of offering assistance with recipes.rnrn

First impression Quiet and to the point.rnrnDid it change Yes thought he did not like me at one point.rnrnHis office staff The best!rnrnWhat I liked about him he has a good reprnYou should know he is just studying you and he is good at what he does.rnrnAftercare is the only care you spend time talking about, no it is very important!rnAftercare program is by computer a program that cost $250.00rnrnHe was very upfront with the riskrnMy rating thus far on a scale of 1-10 would be an 9 that is only due to the bedside manner, he will get a 10 if all goes well with the surgery.

I love my surgeon!
I did my research prior to looking into his program and found nothing but good things to report. My primary care physician said he was a great surgeon (he doesn't do just bariatric surgery and has been around for a long time). Above that, he is just a really nice guy that made me feel comfortable with the whole process.
He is really big on aftercare and following the program to a tee - that is something I like.
He spoke openly and candidly about the surgery and it's risks. He had everything I was looking for - great surgical competence and a nice bedside manner. I feel blessed to be in his care.
Overall he gets five stars from me!

After more than a year of attending different meetings and listening to different doctors I picked Dr. Cahalan for my surgeon. He has a great support staff and he and his nurse spent all the time I needed to be comfortable with my plan for a new life. He has many years experience with lap surgery and I am ready to get this show on the road.

I have been so incredibly impressed with Dr. Cahalan and his entire staff. They are very warm, professional and caring. The pre surgical program is very well put together and I have been informed every step of the way. Mercy Capitol has done a very thorough job with this program and I have great confidence in them. I have been especially impressed with Denise and Susan, the staff nurses.

My first impression of Dr. Cahalan was a serious person that did not take this surgery lightly. I thought he was a little mean, but he has to be stern, to let you know that this is not a joke and you cannot play with your diet or you can kill yourself or become really sick. My impression changed because I realized that he is there to help me to be healthy and get the full benefits of this surgery and not get back to where I am now. He needs to smile more, but again that comes into the seriousness of this surgery. Just know that he is a GREAT surgeon. The emphasis of aftercare is great. He even has this computer program that cost $150, that EVERY patient is obligated to purchase BEFORE surgery to be compliant. This program is his window to you at home during the first 2 weeks of post-op and for the next two years after. He has said that he can and will keep up with your progress even if you move out of state with this program. He gave the nice and the grusome about the surgery risks and he went extensively into the dealth rate, if you do not follow diet and instructions. My overall rating of Dr. Cahalan is EXCELLENT.
