I wasn't sure about him at first.
The day of surgery, I really liked his bedside manner. Made me more comfortable.
The staff have been great!

My first impression was that this man is about business. I found him to be charming, funny sensitive without pity, encouraging and direct. I fell in love. My impression has not changed of him at all. I was not very impressed with the staff. Though polite and very cordial the follow through left a lot to be desired. What I liked least about Dr. Paplowski is that he is not more accessable. I am still waiting to schedule my surgery. He did address the risks of the surgery. He was very clear and specific I liked that because I like to know what I am dealing with. I was futher impressed by his desire to get some sort of background from me and his honesty in terms of if he thought I would be a good candidate. I enjoy having a physician with both a bedside manner and surgial competence but if I had to chose between the 2 I will take the competence any day.

I had my consultation with Dr. Poplawski in June 2001. He set me right at ease. He explained the procedure in terms that my husband and I could understand. He was more than willing to answer our questions too. He also made us laugh.
He was sure to let us know that having surgery is a very serious option and one that is not to be taken lightly.
We left there having every confidence in Dr. Poplawski.

I thought he was really great and answered questions well and I felt at ease with him. The staff in his office were so kind and helpful also, I was really surprised it nothing like the going to the regular doctors offices. Dr. Poplawski went over all the risk that could happen to make sure we understood them. I would recommend talking to him about the surgery.

My first impression of Dr.Poplawski is a very good one. He has a dry sense of humor which was very refreshing, since I expected more of an uptight Dr. He made some funny jokes, takes his time in making an answer. He was very to the point and let me know what the risks are and didnt push the surgery one way or another( even though I have already made mine). Future patients should feel confident about him he made me feel comfortable. BTC sounds like they have an excellant after care. I will update this if I get the surgery.

Update: I will be having another re consult since its been a year since I oringinally seen him.. before surgery on May 2.

He is very professional and very concious about what he does. I think he is a wonderful surgeon. I wished that everyone could have such an awesome surgeon like I had with Dr. Poplawski

My first impression of him was o.k. I've
had friendlier doctors. But I guess he was
rushed. I saw him in between surgeries.
All I can say to those who haven't seen him
yet is make sure you get all your questions
answered before you leave the initial consult.
Because it is very dificuly getting as answer
from anyone at BTC if you are not physically
in their presence.
It's a very large facility and a very friendly
staff though. Most of which have gone through
the surgery themselves.

At this time I have only seen Dr. Poplawski one time. I am still waiting for a surgery date. When I did talk to him I thought that he was very throw. I ask a lot of questions and he anwsered them to my satisfaction. His office staff has been very friendly and caring.
At this point i don't have to much to share.

I thought from the first time I met him that Dr. Pop was an ok guy. He was very informative and answered every question honestly and fully. I had to meet with him over the course of a year and half several times as our first insurance company denied my surgery and my husbands company eventually ended that relationship and we ended up with Blue Cross Blue Shield. Probably the least thing about our Doctor and patient relationship I liked was that he was a very busy Doctor and I didnt get to see him but once on my after surgery appts. He did have a since of humor and was cautious as to my risks with my other health issues (pulmanary and heart). On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being Marcus Welby MD I would rate Dr. Pop a high 9.

My first impresson about Dr. Poplawski was he has very dry since of humor, but he was very nice and I felt very comfortable talking to him about my weight and all the various things I have tried over the years to lose weight. I did not feel embarrassed at all with him and he as very patient and answered all of my questions and all the questions my husband had. The staff at Bariatric Weight Loss Center in Ypsilanti Mi are wonderful. The entire staff realy emphasizes aftercare support groups. This support group meets once a month. Dr. Poplawski addressed the risks of having surgery and the risk of being this over weight. The risk of being over weight is far more dangerous than having this surgery in my opinion and in the opinion of three other Doctors I have been to see since making the decision to have this done. I'm very nervous but in the same breath VERY excited for myself and my family.
