I've had my initial consultation and my first impression of Dr. Theis (pr. "teess") was that he was very intelligent and competent. I have an extremely good sense about people. My first impressions are usually right on the money, so I was happy that he came across very well.

I went to a WLS support group and heard from some in the group that he was rude and even got angry with them. I guess it's possible, but with me, he spoke to me like I was an intelligent person who knew what she was doing.

His staff is extremely friendly and helpful.

Future patients should know that you need to have done your homework before you go in. DO NOT go in without any idea of what's going on. That could have been the problem with some of the people in my group (see above.) The first thing he asked me was what I knew about the surgery. This is very serious business and he expects you to approach it as such.

Dr. Theis addressed pre-surgery expectations (his and mine), explained the surgery to me, and pointed out the importance of after-care in a short visit. He made me feel very confident about the surgery and calmed my fears greatly. Bedside manner is great - but frankly, I'd rather have a crank whose going to keep me alive and well than a smiley face who doesn't know his way around a scapel!

The consultation went pretty quickly, but I didn't feel rushed. He took time to answer my questions. Looking at the question below "did you have anything negative to say", I really don't but I've only met with the man once. So far, so good!

He was wonderful. He seems geniune and cares about the health and happiness of his patients. Everyone in the office was very warm and welcoming and answered all my quetions thoroughly.

There is a structured aftercare program and they have a Support Group in place.

I would definately recommend him to anyone considering WLS.
