Dr. Small was awesome. His care and concern over my safety was top notch. Would use him again in a heartbeat.

Dr. Small is very kind and has a straight forward game plan about what he expects from his patients before surgery. He really makes sure you are aware of the life change you are embarking upon. There was a few times of miscommunication, but it was resolved and I am so glad I have Dr. Small on my side to perform my surgery!

My first impression was he was kind and understanding. I first met him at a informational session. I met his Coordinator Ms. Douglass on March 9th. I have been researching the by-pass for about 8 years. My insurance does not cover obesity related surgeries so I will be paying out of my pocket. More to come as we see him more.

I had gone to Dr. Small three years ago for laprascopic removal of my gall bladder. He was terrific, very kind, compassionate and thoroughly discussed the procedure and recovery. When I began investigating WLS I found out he was doing them and knew I would want him to do it. I went to a seminar he gave, spoke often to his assistant and the WLS coordinator in his office and continued gathering all the info I could.rnrnTheir process is to get you over all the hurdles before you even have your first consult. I saw the nutritionist, had the psych evals (I had to go twice, 1 month between), endoscope was done and the letters of medical necessity were gathered and presented to my insurance company. After three weeks they approved it and my consult was scheduled at which time my surgery was also tentatively scheduled. I was on a modified Adkins diet for one month and after a follow-up appt. my surgery was done 4 days later.rnrnI cannot say enough kind words about everyone in his office; they are terrific and really seem to care about your success.

I had a very good impression of Dr. Small when I first met him and I continue to feel the same way.rnrnI had a few issues with the staff helping me to submit the correct information to Cigna for approval, but we finally got that taken care of. Other than that, they are very nice.rnrnDr. Small insists that I attend his group meetings once a month. I've already met with the group once and found it to be extremely helpful.rnrnI would give Dr. Small a big 10. He is honest, tells you upfront everything you should know and to expect. He tells you like it is. His surgical compentence and bedside manner are both great!

After reseraching this procedure and doctors for the past two years I can definitely say that there should be more Dr.'s like Dr. Small. Dr. Small has a great sense of humor and genuiely cares about his patients, he seems to be very qualified. Kelly D'Amico is his bariatric cordinator and she is very nice. My only pet pieve is not being able to get ahold of her when I have a question. He is serious about following the rules. He will not operate on you unless he knows you are ready. He is a stickler about aftercare.
He is very upfront with you about the risks of having any abdominal surgery. I love everything about him.

He was very cordial at his information seminar, as was his assistant. I will see him for the first time next week, and will answer your questions at that time.

Dr. Small was absolutely wonderful and continues to be. I have encountered some complications and he has more or less been at my beck and call. His patients are his first concern and his bedside manner is beyond compare. I truly believe he is the most dedicated physician in this field. Prior to my meeting Dr. Small, I had attended several "seminars" set up by other physicians.I walked away from each of those encounters feeling like I had just been through a "cattle call". I would reccomend Dr. Small to anyone within 100 mile radius of Safety Harbor/Countryside area of Pinellas county!!!!!!!!

I ran into some problems with the first surgeon I was working with. That doctor had lost his WLS privileges at Morton Plant Hospital. It really put me between a rock and a hard place as my severence benefits are ticking away. I saw an ad in the St. Pete Times for a seminar given by Dr. Ted Small. My wife and I went and we are so glad that we did. I explained my situation to him and he said he would be very happy to work with us.
