I met Dr. Faulkenberry today and was impressed. I had heard from others, both here and from a friend who saw him for her mastectomy, that he is kind and takes as much time as you need to get your questions answered. That was true. He was very personable and really took his time talking to me. I kept finding myself wanting to hurry him up out of habit. Most doctors are running out of the room before you can formulate your words. I felt he really was concerned about me and gave me an honest appraisal of what I could expect from the surgery.

His office seems well organized. So far all the staff have been very nice.

I have heard nothing but good about Dr. Faulkenberry's surgical skills. My fiance had lap-band surgery done by another doctor in this practice, Dr. Oliver. I have been very impressed with the aftercare. Patients are strongly encouraged to attend support group meetings. Daily exercise is even more strongly recommended. Follow up is expected long term.

My first impression of Tim Faulkenberry was that he was very busy. I got used to having to wait for regular office visits with him. But he was very kind and listened to questions and answered very honestly. I felt very good about him.

His office staff seems to think the thin walls must have some kind of insulation, they talk about everybody freely in very loose terms. But they were thorough and got things going for me.

What I liked least about Dr. Faulkenberry was after the surgery. I didn't see him much. He would flit in and out once a day when nobody was around. I ultimately had to get him paged to ask him questions. It was most disconcerting that after he released me, he said he would send someone to remove the drain. The terrified nurse who ended up with the chore assured me that she was certified to do it, but that most doctors did it themselves. It was painful, she was panicked and I was left very uncomfortable.

Surgical competence is Tim Faulkenberry's strong point. He is masterful. I've had no nausea, no problems. My Blood Pressure stabilized immediately as did my blood sugar. Be sure that you have a list of questions at the ready for when you actually do see him post-op. You'll need that list.

Dr. Faulkenberry was so nice. He was very patient and answered my list of questions. He even gave me info that I didn't ask that I never thought to ask. He was just so very nice.

Dr. Faulkenberry is a fine surgeon, good people skills, no nonsense approach. He will provide all the information one needs AND most importantly, he really listens to his patients.

I already had a lot of information prior to seeing him, yet he and his staff provide information, answer questions, etc. I really like the fact that he has a Clinical Dietician on Staff.

I had a minor swelling problem 2 days after being released from the surgery, called his office, they got me in and Dr.Fauleknberry took immediate action (direct admit). I like the fact that he is very proactive when needed. Also, he is very sensitive to any pain issues we may have post surgery.

Although I do not hesitate to give Dr. Faulkenberry glowing recommendations, in my opinion, he has one associate who isn't quite as sensitive regarding the patient's needs or concerns, hence the reason why I had to return to the hospital 2 days after being released.

In hindsight, I would recommend scheduling the surgery early in the week so you can be released during the week. Don't wait to be released on a weekend for the good doctor may not be on call.

I do believe that the physicians' office (it's a partnership) could be a little more proactive discussing the two support groups available in the Austin area (St. David's Hospital & Seton Medical Center). However, the seminar's the doctors' present prior to making an appointment is very helpful for those exploring various surgical options.

So far, I am happywith the overall experience with Dr. Fauleknberry and have no reservations recommending him to any potential patients.

I was very impressed with his work as a surgeon. I saw first hand that he did good work as a general surgeon because i work as a nurse where he does surgery ( so i have taken care of many of his patients) He is very kind, gentle, caring, takes time with you did not rush me. His staff are all very caring and helpful . I can't say enough for Debbie in the insurance office. She help me through the whole approval process and we won!! We have discussed the criteria expected of me after surgery and he was very through.Including follow ups, diet compliance, vitamins very important, B12 shots, and need to excerise. At this moment in time i can not think of any negative aspect??

First meeting with Dr. Faulkenberry was informative. The doctor answered all of my questions despite my running over our scheduled time.

The office staff is very helpful. As a matter of fact, I have relied on his dietician quite a bit since my surgery.

Dr. Faulkenberry was a kind, considerate, and extremely knowledgable surgeon. Some may see him as a little on the "fatherly" side, but I liked that about him. He answered my questions with care and concern. His office staff is nice.. but OVERWORKED. I was only able to see him for a few follow up visits after my surgery due to him dropping my insurance as one he accepted. He has continued to have his staff available to answer questions for me and has called me a few times just to "check in".

I had to change insurance companies so Dr. Falkenberry wasn't my dr. till May but I hit the jackpot! He has a wonderful reputation and I took the time to ask-believe me! If anything, he is hard to get in with so appointments are hard to get. I had to wait 3 weeks after insurance was approved just for the follow up to see him. He is very nice, soft-spoken, and professional. He is straight forward in a nice way but moves on pretty fast due to his schedule I'm sure. Very little chit-chat. He explains everything you want to ask and puts you at ease. He works in a group so there is always someone that can help if he isn't available (never has happened but they assure you if he isn't there--a doctor is always on call). I felt confident in the Southwest Bariatric Group in Austin. They work as a team. So I feel like I would receive equal care no matter what the circumstances. I am encouraged to contact them whenever needed and they provide good after surgery services. Surgery was a breeze and I had no reservations about his skills as I went into surgery..Thanks Dr. Faulkenberry!

My first visit to Dr. Faulkenberry was combined with my DH's first visit. I was very impressed with his knowledge and demeanor. He wanted to make sure we were both very aware of what we were headed into.
The office staff is great but sometimes seem overwhelmed. I learned that if I had an issue (like with insurance sitting on my DH's claim for 2+ weeks) that I might want to call and check to see if "there is anything that I need to provide to help things along". I never felt like I was being seen as a pest, even when calling 4+ times a day trying to see if there were any cancellations. My only "complaint" would be that I was told it would be 2 weeks before insurance would be submitted and it was closer to a month. If that's all I have to complain about, then I consider myself lucky compared to what I have read on other profiles (not for this surgeon).
Aftercare is stressed. There is a monthly meeting and they have separate ones for the Band and Bypass patients. I found a regional meeting that meets my schedule much better since I work nights. Once I am banded I will try to get to those meeting (they are downtown at the height of rush hour and I live about 25 miles away).
My second visit had the same impressions as the first. Although he is one of only two docs that do the bypass, he seems very knowledgeable about the band and I am totally comfortable with him. He has realized that I am wanting to "get this show on the road" and warned me that the scheduler may not call me tomorrow since she went home sick today. I really appreciated the honesty.

***Warning: If your DH/SO enjoys hunting, don't let them bring it up in YOUR visit. :-P It took a few minutes of "the look" to get my DH to realize that this was MY time & he could have this conversation at HIS pre-op visit. :-)***

He is mild mannered and soft spoken, but very decissive and is passionate about helping others.

Over time I saw no change, just continued professionalism and guite easy to be around.

His staff are wonderful and so willing to help. Very patient with answering questions on anything you need to know.

There was nothing that I didn't like. New patients will feel comfortable dealing with him and his staff.

Aftercare is very important to this doctor. Exercise and emotional well being is addressed before and after surgery.

Was very informidable on every risk. I would have to give him a 10.

Both is better.
