Timothy Monson Bariatric Surgeon M.D., F.A.C.S.
Th first time I met Dr. Monson was at the informational meeting I attended at Merit Care - he seemed very knowledgeable and experienced and I liked the fact that he was biased toward RNY Gastric Bypass as the best chance for success. He a bit of a quiet attitude and confidence that assured me.
When my wife and I visited with him for my initial surgeon visit it was rather routine and thorough. He gave all the information I needed, answered all the questions - wasn't at all flashy or evasive on anything and when we left we were not like in awe or anything, we both just felt very good about who was going to do this surgery.
Have a visit with him tomorrow - we'll see how I feel about him after that! 12/31/09
I chose Dr. Monson after an extensive search of surgeons in my area. I received several referrals from people I know that had gone to him. He is very skilled and I felt extremely safe in his care. He reviewed everything about the surgery thoroughly. His bariatric surgery program is extremely thorough and supportive.
Dr. Monson is a very pleasant person and left a great first impression. Several months later I met him in the hall and he stopped me and spoke with me as though he had just reviewed my records.
Reports from patients that I've spoken with are generally positive. I haven't been through surgery yet so I can't comment first hand, but the pro's (R.N's and M.D.'s) have high regard for his knowledge and competence.
Everything about the program is codified and down to a smooth running routine. Books, meetings, psych, dietitians, it's all very professional, friendly and complete.
First of all he is much shorter then I thought! He was easy to talk to & encouraging that I had made the right choice for my health. More to come after surgery. Appt with PA Rachel & really liked her she is very informative & encouraging. Also an FYI- I had been told by others that the process of getting your required optifast, vitamins & meals was a pain but I found the process very easy & quick. Post op Dr Monson provides enough kind bedside manner but doesn't try to put to much information in your head as I'm sure he realizes you won't remember & need this time to rest. Got adequate info when discharged.
2/5/08: Met Dr. Monson for the first time today. I really liked him!! He was sweet, easy to talk to and ready for all my questions...which were mostly answered before I could ask anyway! We went over my medical history, weight related problems, a quick exam and then he went over all possible surgeries: risks, benefits, complications, etc.
Dr. Monson was friendly and answered my questions I had. He was honest with me. His staff was very nice. I was glad I chose him, I felt really good after my surgery and my stitches healed good, no drainage even. The only problem I have is the nurses said to call them whenever I needed them, but whenever I call I am told they are busy and asked what I want , who I am, etc.
