I had my surgery consult on 10/31/06. I loved, loved, LOVED Dr. Broussard and the team at Foundation Bariatrics. Team oriented, acted like they had all the time in the world for me, made me feel completely at ease. Wonderful! Dr. Broussard didn't act like he had anywhere else to be. He answered my questions completely, made sure I knew what I was getting into, and made himself completely available. It was evident that he loves what he does. I got a kick out of listening to his Louisiana accent, too! His organization is strict about pre- and post-op care. You also have a patient advocate assigned to you to help you navigate the process. I feel like I made the right choice with Foundation Bariatrics and so far rate them very highly! The downside is that while Dr. Broussard is in my network, the hospital and healthplex are not.

I met Dr. Broussard at a seminar, I was going to have Dr. Walton who is at the same hospital (because my Angel Jane had him) but he was out of town for the seminar. So I really liked Dr. Broussard at the seminar so I decided to make an appointment with him. I got an appointment 3 days after the seminar. Now thats fast!! He is really so sweet, I knew that this was a special Bariatrics Hospital so this was his specialty. I believe that Dr. Broussard really cares about his patients and loves what he does. He was very informative and asked if I had any questions. He wanted me to have a safe surgery so I do need to lose 20 pounds to shrink my liver. I was very inpressed with that. I am self-pay and he could just do it fast and over with. The Hospital is wonderful, the staff is great..It is the only Bariatrics Hospital in the USA... Only Bariatrics Patient, everything at this Hospital is equipped for Overweight Patients...Very Very Impressive...

Very easy to work with. Explains things well and has a good natue about him.rnrnHis bedside manner is good and he worked quickly on me, my WLS took less than 2 hours!rnrnDr. Floyd took my insurance and worked with them to get me approved.rnrnThis is an update on my relationship with Dr. Philip Floyd. 9-18-06rnrnHe is a skilled surgeon, however, his follow up is TERRIBLE. I have had ONE set of lab work done since my surgery, only because I insisted. Also, he took 6 weeks to return a phone call after my sugery-he took a biospy of my liver and I was trying to get the results.rnrnHe recently did an endoscope of my pouch due to pain in my left side, and STILL has not contacted me with results. He put me on Protonix the day before the scope and I guess he feels that was all he needed to do. I would not have known about the ULCER I have in my new stomach had a nurse not been kind enough to give me a picture of if after I woke up.rnrnIt is my opinion that simply being good at cutting someone is not enough, especially with WLS. There is A LOT of follow up that needs to be done (as is evidence by the amount of times it is mentioned on this web site) It would be my suggestion that if you choose Dr. Floyd for you surgery that you have a good general physician to take care of that follow up- it seems that Dr. Floyd isn't interested. rnrnJust my opinion.rnrn10-3-06rnrnWell I met with Dr. Broussard et al for the first time today, and I must say that it was a WONDERFUL visit!!rnrnDr. Broussard spent at least 30 minutes with me and was extremely thorough and professional-as well as being very personable and caring.rnrnThe nurses and other staff were great- very helpful and caring. The facility itself is fabulous! I think I made the right move!

Dr. Broussard is orginially from Louisiana so the first thing you notice is his accent. He is a very caring doctor that nevers minds you calling him. He has a great bedside manner and you can tell that he and the staff get along great! The office staff is always nice when I call them and they are very accommodating to my scheduling needs. He has just starting doing the lap band surgeries on his own but he has trained with Dr. Walton for several months and has done bypass for years. That concerned me at first but the surgery turned out without problems. He tells you EVERYTHING up front good and bad. He actually scared me some by telling me all the bad that could happen and what he expected of me. He will help you but you have to show him you are willing to help yourself or he will not operate on you and he told me that day one. If you can not commit to what he requires he will not do the surgery no matter if you have cash money or insurance. This is a life change and he makes sure you are ready to make it before you get your date scheduled and he will ask you again the day of surgery. He has you make a commitment to him for routing visits for follow up as well. He tells you he will be with you for the rest of your life and he means it. He will be your biggest fan but he still will not let you eat even if you beg him (during the clear liquid stage). The aftercare is very very structured you know all your appointments ahead of time and you see everyone very often (which I need). And they have wonderful support group meetings as well. The best part is you only have to go to one place. EVERYONE is in the same building as the hospital. I would rate him a 10 out of 10 he really is a great guy and wonderful surgeon. This is not a surgery to take lightly. There are several doctors out there that just care about money and not about you. Dr. Broussard and Dr. Walton are not those doctors. They care about you and you know it is not an act. I had alot of bruising and ALOT of gas pain afterwards and I called him 3 times in the first few days at all hours and he was always cheerful and helpful. Thank you Dr. Broussard for helping me to change my life for the better!

Dr. Toby Broussard.....................
Well when he walked in the room............he was young........but so am I?!?! He is also married and very attractive....but anyway, he made sure all my questions were answered and that I felt comfortable with the whole procedure!

He made me feel very secure and very comfortable...that I didn't even ask him how many procedures like this he has done.....but i later find out he has done multiples!

He made me go to two support groups above hand!

Dr. Broussard and his staff were all very polite and informative about wls. They put me at ease, encouraged questions and answered all that were asked without hesitation. Dr. Broussard and his wife offer support group meetings once a month. I found the support meeting to be great! Really enjoyed speaking with others about their experiences and was made to feel comfortable and accepted by all.

Right from the start my wife and I felt a confidence in Dr. Broussard. He made sure we understood the procedure and all of the risks involved. The staff is very courteous and proactive. They set up various appointments as needed, usually while I was still in the office with them. They also followed up with me on the test results. They make each patient feel that they are an important person, not just another patient to bill. You get the feeling that your health is their primary concern. Dr. Broussard also emphasizes that there be regular follow-up visits as well as attendence to the support group meetings.

Great! Really caring and took time! Willing to spend as much time as possible with his patients. He wrote a handout booklet that he gives and a video tape to watch (which is GREAT). He confirmed all that I had known about risks, aftercare, length of hospital stay and what I have to do prior to surgery! His nurse/receptionist is wonderful. Always willing to answer ANY questions and never making me feel like I was a "bother".
