Victor F. Novak, III Bariatric Surgeon M.D.

I really love Dr novak though he's very out front which sometimes hurts my feelings but he means bussiness! And I LOVE his office staff, I can't count how many times I have cried to them and they listened! If it wasn't for them I can promise you I wouldnt be excepted for this surgery yet!!

I met Dr. Novak on Nov. 11, 06. I am impressed he too, attends the support groups he recommends. I feel he has answered all of my questions honestly, and fully.

Dr. Novak is one of the nicest Doctors I have ever been to, he is caring and upfront about everything. He prior to the open by-pass, did 3 EGD's and cleared up ulcers, and removed my gall bladder. His office staff is knowledgable and helpful. The only problem I had was getting approval from UPMC insurance and them demanding I have my surgery at Somerset Hospital. The Somerset Hospital was terrible, dirty, the staff was not knowledgable about the surgery, they would talk behind the Dr's back and mine as well. I have sent a letter of complaint but as of today I have heard nothing from them. So if you are considering a hospital do not go to Somerset Hospital.Dr, Novak did not want to do the surgery there but my insurance demanded it. Dr. Novak is clear about the risks after surgery. He does offer a support group every month. He is sometimes a little rushed so it is best to have your questions written down when you go to see him. Both my husband and I think he is a wonderful Doctor.

I recently had my first consult with Dr. Novak after meeting 2 other physicians and attending a seminar. I just hadn't found the right doctor. UNTIL NOW! I am very pleased with Dr. Novak's personality. He is very down to earth and practical. Although I have only met the office staff briefly they too seem like very nice people. I have an EGD scheduled for 2/11/05. My next appt is scheduled and I am attending the next support group that same day. I do hope that Dr. Novak and I will discuss more details about the surgery etc. as it becomes closer. He had multiple interruptions on the day of my initial appt. I do get very nervous by the chatter of others and thier negativity associated with the surgery/risks. Hope all goes well!

Dr. Novak is a very good surgeon.

My first impression of Dr. Novak was a good one. He comes out to the waiting area to get you himself. He is very pleasant and informative. He answered all of my questions and was very honest. His staff was very pleasant as well. I have only spent 4 visits with the doctor but in those visits he was also nice to me. I have finished all of my required testing but I have to have the scope test redone due to an infection they found while doing the first one. When they found the infection Dr. Novak himself called me at home and explained it to me. He prescribed the needed antibiotics for 14 days. Hopefully they have worked so I can continue to move forward. I will know after my next scope which is scheduled for June 23rd. He truly is a fine person and I feel very confident with him as my surgeon. Overall I would rate him a 9 out of 10 because noone is perfect but GOD.

I met Dr. Victor Novak on January 19 2004 my first impresion was good he came to the door t get each patient himself and when he came out he was very nice. My one on one with him I felt a little diffrent he is a very busy man and he had a patient with a problem there that day and I believe this was the reasoning that he was not exactly as I expected then.But I was also very disappointed that I could not go lapro because he has not started yet and he will not do a bmi over 50 and mine is 60 but he does have a excellent recovery rate for open 1 and 1/2 days in hospital and 2 weeks return to work. I called him when I got home because I was not going to do it with him and I was going to cancel the testing but he really turned me around with that talk he was very honest and told all I needed to know and made me feel very comfortable. I am looking forward to seeing him again and getting scheduled.
Well I had my egd and my gall ultra sound today what a breeze I was so scared and what a easy thing.

Dr Novak is with out a doubt the greatest doctor I have ever met. He is very straight forward from day one but I feel his attitude has encouraged me to where I am today at 9 months post op I have lost 195lbs!!!! Dr Novak is very supportive and makes you really want to give 110%. Before my surgery I weighed 432lbs and was on a collison course with death! Since I had my surgery I feel like a new person! I attribute my success to a great doctor who really cares about his patients and there weight loss needs. Seeing him every month is a encourgemt to keep on the right path. Dr Novak has a monthly support group meeting which he runs and takes time out of his own very busy schedule to run. A great doctor with a great office staff!! On a scale of 1 to 10 Dr Novak receives a pefect 10!

Dr Novack is a very straight forward, no nonsense physcian with a genuine care for his patients.I was impressed with his style. Following my Endoscopy on a Friday, he called me at home on Saturday to see how I was. He explained everything to me and took the time to answer all of my questions. He was also very instrumental in getting my insurance to go through. I was initally put off by the office staff, but in time I grew to like them as they too put alot of time into getting my insurance approved. Dr Novak has an active support group in which he expects you to be involved. Since I live so far away I will be using a local WLS group.Thus far I will rate him as a 10.

Dr. Novak is blunt, honest and one of the most caring medical providers that I've ever dealt with.

His office staff has been great and always willing to answer any questions that I have.

Only thing about Dr. Novak that I don't like is that he tells me like it is and if I don't like it too bad.

Future patients should know that he is gonna take the best of care of them but that he also expects them to do as he says.

I had him paged on Saturday and he called me right away. I told him that it was such a stupid question that I probably shouldn't have bothered him. He said there was no stupid question. He told me what I needed and immediately started asking me if I was following his orders. OK, I am. Thanks

I would rate him highly to anyone that needed a good surgeon, whether it be a bariactric surgeon or a surgeon for anything else.

His bedside manner made me laugh. He put the charge nurse on the run because I did not have my air stockings on when he came in the day after surgery. He flew out in the hallway and brought the charge nurse straight into the room and had the problem fixed. LOL
