Met Dr. Medlin and felt very comfortable with him. He calls me Miss Lauer!

I liked Dr. Medlin immediately, he made feel very comfortable. The office staff most were friendly. My first consult was done as a group setting. Five 5 ladies we had are vitals taken individually when we first arrived, we then met in a conference room. Maryellen (not sure of her title) but I liked her. rnShe explained surgery types RNY vs. LapBand and what to expect with each type of surgery Dr. Medlin came in an he went over, some basics with all of us. We then were able to meet Dr. Medlin individually. The ONLY negative: he is booked until January which means, having to wait for until Februay 2008! I'll update when there is more to say.

In 2005 started the process to have the RNY because at that time SMDC did not have the Lap Band. Had my surgeon consult with Dr Medlin because I was impressed with his presentation at the informational session I attended. Very easy to talk to, explains EVERYTHING and is not annoyed by questions even if you have a ton!! My surgery was approved then by insurance in December but our insurance was changed to a different company so could not get it done and decided to wait. Then I found out that SMDC was now offering the lap band and thought I'd go for it again and of course I requested Dr Medlin again and to my surprise he remembered me from almost 2 years ago and that impressed me considering the flow that I'm sure had gone through there and alot of Dr's would not have remembered from my experience. Once the surgery is completed I will update more on Dr Medlin.

I just met Dr. Medlin today for the first time. I feel completely satisfied with my choice for a surgeon. I feel he is very knowledgable, informed, experienced and up-to-date. He is pleasant to talk with and encourages questions. I never felt rushed with him or silly for asking anything. The only thing a little unsettling about the visit was that he is forgetful and seems very busy. But, overall I was immensely glad to meet him and he made me feel much more at ease about the surgery even while describing the risks. I feel good about my choice!rnNow that my surgery is complete, I found that Dr. Medlin had less time to answer my questions. My surgery was just done last week and all went as great as could be hoped but I was somewhat disappointed with the lack of interest in the patient after surgery.

Dr Medlin is one of the nicest doctors I have ever met. When I met him he entered the room and said, Hi Tom I'm Walt Medlin, very informal and comforting. He is slightly \"full figured\" also so he understands. I have talked to several people that have had Dr Medlin do their surgery and all rave about him. I look forward to being under his care.rnrnrn<br/>rn

I have been asking in the medical community, such as friends that are medical professionals. I have heard nothing but positive comments about Dr. Medlin. I met him for the first time for a consult on 12/06/2006. He was patient, understanding, and answered any questions. He seemed like a busy man. I liked him overall.

First impression was what an awesome guy! He is caring and up front and also SO willing to go the extra mile to answer all your questions. VERY personable guy. My surgery is Sept 1,06. I am VERY excited and calm to have him as my surgeon.

' 3/10/06 Dr. Medlin is awesome!! He makes you very comfortable and has a great bedside manner! You are not just a number to him. He remembers you and discusses any issues with you. Asks you if there is anything he can answer for you and then jokes around with you to keep you from getting nervous. I have only seen him twice. Once for my surgery consult and once for the EGD. I wish in some ways he did general family practice. I would make him my primary MD anyday!rnrnDr. Medlin always emphasizes that a GBP is not a quick get skinny fix

I work in a hospital and therefore have had the opportunity to meet many doctors. Dr. Medlin is definitely different than other docs. He makes you feel comfortable from the get-go, he doesn't have that "Doctor=God" attitude I encounter so very often. He is down to earth. He gets to know you and talks to you like a person. The physician's assistant that was assigned to me didn't always return my calls in a timely fashion, so when Dr. Medlin heard about this he told me to page him directly with any questions/problems. I had to contact him twice and both times he gave me his immediate attention and made me feel like I was his only patient. I've never had surgury before and I was plenty scared getting started on this adventure, but as soon as I met Dr. Medlin for the first time, I knew things were going to be okay. The thing I like least about Dr. Medlin is that he is married. I'm only joking, but his wife is definitely a lucky woman! Future patients should know that he is more than competent and views each patient as individuals. He doesn't use cookie-cutter timelines for his patients, he bases his decisions on how each patient handles the surgury and the recovery. Dr. Medlin stresses taking it easy after surgury. Once you're on the road to recovery, he will remind you time and again how this is just a tool and that he wants to see you go all the way with it. He pushes exercise and eating right. He and his team will help you work through any issues that arise, but they will not let you give up. They want you to succeed as much as you do. I would rate Dr. Medlin a "15/10". He went above and beyond my expectations and provided me with wonderful results! His surgical competence and bedside manner are both great. He fully explained the procedure and risks more than once, and when I awoke after surgury, I found everything went exactly as he described. I had Laproscopic RNY bypass surgury less than two months ago and the only marks I have left are five tiny little dashes on my stomach. They took me off the pain pump the morning after my surgury and I was doing so well, they sent me home. They sent a script for pain meds at home, but I didn't feel the need for them, I never felt any pain. This all probably sounds too good to be true, but it's not. Dr. Medlin is not only a great surgeon, but he's proven to be a wonderful person too. These comments only describe MY experiences with regard to Dr. Medlin, although I cannot guarantee you will have the same results, it is my hope that you do.

I met Dr Medlin at the information meeting at St. Mary's Hospital and liked him right away. I asked a number of questions, as did others in the meeting, and he answered them all. He even stayed longer than he had anticipated.

My impression hasn't changed since I met him. He is nice, helpful, very knowledgable and caring.

His office staff is good and helpful. They respond fairly quickly to questions.

I knew the risks of surgery upfront because they were explained in detail at the information meeting.

I don't have anything particularly negative to say about him. He denied my request for a medication when I was looking to go home, but the next day he had reconsidered it and gave me the prescription. I think a doctor who will think things over and change their mind is impressive.

I think Dr. Medlin is an excellent doctor, an excellent surgeon and I'd recommend him highly!
