When I first met Dr. overcash he was very polite and very straight forward and did not sugarcoat anything for me.
His staff was very courtous and very helpfull and got my pakage to my insurance extremly fast and I had my answer the next day. and had my surgery date in 2 weeks.
The morning of my surgery everyone there in the hospital was great. Before I went in Dr. Overcash came in and asked me one more time if I was ready to do this that I could possibly never wake up from surgery. He then turned to my Husband and asked him if he would be willing to loose me if something went wrong in the surgery room. We both said we were ready for it. He then told me he would take very good care of me and relax. About 45 minutes later I was in the recovery room. It was all worth it!!!

April 11, 2003
Just made the appointment for my 1st visit with Dr. Overcash (my new Doc). It is April 28,2003. I cant believe it is so soon!! : )
~~April 28, 2003
SHOOT, SHOOT, SHOOT~~ I had to reschedule my appointment. I GOT LOST!! I live about 2 1/2 hours away from Ocala, but I left my house like 3 hours ahead of time for that reason (getting lost) but anyway, I called Jennifer at the office and she told me dont worry, she made me another apt. for next Monday 5-4-03 and she told me to call her tomorrow for directions from her!! OMG~ If its not one thing its another it seems like!!
~~May 5, 2003
My husband and I drove the 2 1/2 hour drive and we did'nt get lost!! YAH!!! Anyways, everyone was right about Dr. Overcash he is very to the point and firm about the after care. All in all, he know's what he's doing and I have no doubt's about him doing my surgery. Patrice, in his office did tell me that once I mail my info that is needed back to them and they send it to my insurance (Tricare) it takes about 3-4 days for Tricare to approve. I was SHOCKED, I thought it would take at least a week and a half. But I'm not gonna get my hopes up... We are talking about Tricare here!

Dr. Overcash was straight forward and to the point. He wanted both my wife and I to understand completely the mortality rate risk not only because of my obesity but the fact that I was a redo, redo and opened up so many times in the past.
No. My impression was right on the mark. He came across as a tough guy, but when it came down to the actual surgery his compassion for helping obese people was obvious. He told me I scared the hell out of him because of my past. I thought at first he was just blowing smoke. But after the surgery and the days that followed. I realized he really was scared.
I had been turned away by Dr. Marema in Fort Lauderdale. He told me he wouldn't even consider touching me. But Dr. Overcash saw in me the desire to fight this desease win or lose. Thanks Dr. for helping me land the first punch. Your entire organization along with Ocala Regional were just phenominal.

6-16-03 My first initial consult with Dr. Overcash. I was so pleased. He was so kind and patient. He took the time to answer each and every question my husband and I had. After listening to him give exact details of the surgery, I felt very informed. He and his staff are so kind. I have to send a letter from my PCP and then wait for approval. I had read that he was an insensitive, rude man. To the contrary, he was wonderful. He seemed to truly care about my time and me as a patient.

His offices are very busy (he must be popular). It is a 6 weeek wait, just for a consultation, which I now scheduled for late March of 2003.
I Love Patrice! (She the Front Desk Nurse) My PCP had some questions and she was great. She is very very busy trying to help everyone with the insurance approval process. Leave her a message and give a day or two two respond. It sound like alot of time but just picture her working diligently on your file!

I had read and heard about Dr. Overcas's direct
manner, so I was prepared. I liked him and
found him to be comfortable to talk to. My
husband went to the consultation appt.
with me and he had a good impression of
Dr. Overcash as well. We were
prepared for his "who will take care of your
child when you die" questions. He certainly
talks extensively about risks and he doesn't
fool around with it.
His office staff has been wonderful so
far, although it's been almost 4 weeks since
they submitted my application and information
and I haven't heard back from insurance
about approval (BCBS - FL). I thought I was
thorough about getting dieting history, 2
letters of surgery recommendations from
my PCP and GYN doctors, psych. eval., blood
work, etc.
I'm trying to be patient, but it's hard after
waiting for so long with no word. I hope to
hear soon. It's not Dr. Overcash's fault,
nor is his staff to blame for insurance taking
so long to reply.

Well I have finally completed my first step! I completed my consultation with Dr. Overcash on 6/6! It went very well if I do say so myself! When I got there, there were a few people in the waiting room but Dr. Overcash got there late that day so he was kind of backed up. Then by the time I got called in, there were A LOT of people there! I waited like an hour but I was also in there for an hour so it wasn't bad at all. I did get called back with someone else. He was an older guy but he seemed to be very nice. Most people described Dr. Overcash as being a very direct person and he was. What I liked most about him though is he makes you feel like you are the only one in the room. No matter how many people were in the waiting room, he didn't rush me at all. I felt very comfortable with him. I also found him to be very gentle and concerned as well. He is extremely nice in my opinion! I feel even more hopeful about this surgery now!

Dr. Overcash is one of the best physicians that I have come in contact with. His bedside manner is superb. He makes you feel like a human being and gives you the utmost respect. I would recommend Dr. Overcash to anyone comtemplating WLS. The staff is an asset to his office. I can honestly say that I haven't had a negative experience with either him or the staff.

After consultation with Dr. Sooriash, I was uncomfortable proceeding further and chose Dr. Wm. Todd Overcash from Ocala as my surgeon.
I had consultation on 8/20, surgery date is 9/6. Office staff was great, busy office!!
Dr. Overcash was wonderful, spent all the time we needed and was very informative and pleasant. I am a very cautious person, so I did a lot of research and asked him the "hard" questions, to which he was very open to answering. I would rate him an A+++. I have heard he has excellent surgical skills and you are under anesthesia many times shorter than with others - a good thing. I feel relaxed about the whole procedure - confident in his abilities. Great bedside manner, too.
Surgery date: 9/6, back home in 4 days, did well.
Now it is almost 9 months and if you live in Jacksonville, FL I would STRONGLY urge you to make the SHORT 2 hour trip to Ocala and see a top surgeon with a patient with great results. Don't compromise just because you have an HMO with AETNA - they will approve Dr Overcash and I have ZERO problems and am doing great, eat fine, feel fine.

The first time I met Dr. Overcash was just a brief encounter he called me in weighed me and said good bye..
after the first visit I was denied by my insurance company.... so I had to try try again lol
The second time I met him was pretty much like the first, very professional.
The office staff has always been very friendly and answered many questions for me.
I thought he would be just a little bit more friendly.
I think both bedside manner and surgical compentence is needed to help speed up a quick healthy recovery.
As far as being a good surgeon ... he is very good... I have not gotten sick or had any complications at all this is all my own personal opinion.
