Zaria Murrell Bariatric Surgeon M.D.

I work at Huntsville Hospital and I have seen some of Dr. Murrells surgeries. Many of the scrubs I work with recommended Dr. Murrell. She is the one of the best doctors to perform Gastric Bypass. She is very nice and explains everything.

I will not mention the name of my first surgeon, but he did not stress a lot of strict after care, and I have learned a lot that I should have done in 5 1/2 years. Over the years I had quite a few people (professionals and others) tell me horror stories about him. He has since left town (or as I was told.. not allowed at the local hospitals). My new surgeon Dr. Murrell, taught me so much in just the 30 minutes (more time than I expected). So far she seems very knowledgable, and very strict (but in a nice way). Her staff was very nice. She has aready given me hints on aftercare, and that I need to attend support group meetings. She made me very comfortable, even though she had to tell me stuff that I was doing wrong.

I think she is the most wonderful surgeon and person.

I have nothing but positive things to say about Dr. Murrell. She's answered any questions I've asked, both pre and post surgery, and has never made me feel that any question was too small to be worth her time.rnrnShe shoots straight from the hip, and tells it to you like it is. If you follow her instructions, success is yours!rnrnShe does sometimes run behind schedule, but I think it's because she doesn't cut off her patients, and when your with her, you feel like she is completed focused on your care.

During the seminar I thought she was a very straight forward person who called them as she saw them - though I did think she was a little young to be a surgeon (I thoguht she was the nurse at first - LOL). rnrnThe first appointment I had with her before my surgery totally changed my perception about her. She cared about what my wife and I had to say and listened closely to both of us. She answered all of our questions in a way that made it easily understood and also explained the procedures and possible complications again. I defintely knew what may happen to me after the surgery. rnrnThe thing that impressed me the most about her was her prayer for me and my family before surgery. Even after the surgery when I cheated and got a piece of food stuck and threw up she didn't belittle or berate me. She even told my wife that this is the way I am going to learn how to eat again.rnrnAs for the office visits, I think the reason she is so late is because of the time she spends with each patient. A lot of doctors will dismiss you, but she never seems like she is in a hurry to get rid of you. I don't mind the wait at all and this is usually my biggest pet peeve.rnrnGreat doctor, but she needs to exaplin better what the dietary requirements are after the surgery.

I had my visit today with Dr. Murrell she is great. Spent almost 45 minutes talking with me and going the surgical process again; just to make sure I understood all the risk. I am very happy to know she is very careful and checks for leaks 3-4 times before ever leaving the OR.rnrnSo now we will wait for insurance approval.

I was very impressed with Dr. Murrell at her initail group orientation. At the actual surgery comsultation, my feelings were only intensified. She has the sweetest, most patient nature. She is very knowledgeable about the procedure, and has the patient's best interest at heart. I feel very confident in her abilities.

Dr. Murrell is a kind but thourogh Dr.
She is highly recomended and I have the utmost faith in her.She has a wonderfull bedside manner.She will take time to answer all your questions no matter how long it takes.

First impression was very good and over time I would tell anyone who was interested in a gastric bypass to go only to Dr. Murrell, that is how great I think she is.
The staff was very knowledgeable and very helpful with me obtaining my approval from my insurance company.
To make a long story short I trusted Dr Murrell and would only recommend her. I'm sorry but she is 100% like it or not.

My first impression of Dr. Murrell was that she is so kind and caring. She really listened and explained things to me very throughly. You can tell that she enjoys helping people along to healthier lives. I first had reservations about Dr. Murrell's staff but they have been very nice and helpful since my surgery. The only downside is if your appointment is at 1000 don't expect to be seen until about 1130. But that is okay if you know it is going to be that way. Overall I had a great experience and would do it again tommorrow. Dr. Murrell in my book is the best at RNY/LAP. Her surgical competence and bedside manner made me have all the confidence in her abilities. She is wonderful and has really changed my life. I would do it again tomorrow and have no regrets.
