Franchell Hamilton Bariatric Surgeon MD, FACS, FASMBS

Dr. Franchell Hamilton, MD, FACS, FASMBS has performed hundreds of bariatric procedures. An experienced board certified surgeon, Dr. Hamilton has made weight loss surgery her primary focus and is passionate about providing her patients with the highest level of care. While she has also performed many general surgery cases, her passion lies in studying obesity and helping her patients to overcome it. While she is a native of the Dallas/Fort Worth area, Dr. Franchell Hamilton has traveled the world for her studies. She graduated with honors from the University of Houston and went on to pursue graduate studies on biochemical engineering in Lyon, France. After completing her undergraduate and graduate studies, she went to medical school at the University of Texas in San Antonio to receive her medical degree. She completed her residency under the direction of Dr. L.D. Britt at Eastern Virginia Medical School and received laparoscopic and bariatric fellowship training in San Antonio, Texas.   Dr. Franchell Hamilton sits on the bariatric committee for the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) and has multiple presentations and publications researching both general and bariatric diseases. She also sits on the Public Education Committee with the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), and stays up-to-date on all of the latest innovations in bariatric surgery—including the apollo overstitch and gastric balloon procedure.   Outside of work, Dr. Hamilton loves spending time with her family, living a healthy and active lifestyle, traveling, and doing mission work. Her goal as the Medical Director of A Better Weigh Center is to offer comprehensive healthcare to her patients, as well as prolong and improve the quality of their life. She accepts CareCredit and other financing options for all bariatric procedures, and even offers a free insurance verification check to her patients.
