Borgess Medical Center Hospital

I had a Wonderful experience at Borgess. The hospital staff and all the nurses were excellent. My husband stayed with me the whole time and the staff was very accommodating to him as well. I was impressed by the level of care I received from the PCA's (aides) they were so heartfelt and truly a godsend. The only bad thing I could say was the ability to sleep uninterrupted, but truthfully in any hospital no one gets any real sleep. I am home now and 6 days post op with so far no complications I really feel great and I attribute part of that to the quality of care I received.

I can not imagine a better place to have my surgery done, from the warm air heated cover in the pre-op prep area to an inflatable mattress to transfer to the OR bed. The staff, many of whom have had some form of WLS were great and always aware of the concerns & emotions that you are going through. The PCAs and nursing staff were great and they did everything that they could to get me through the post-op blues. Getting me up and out of bed that night and keeping me sipping my water after my follow-up upper GI the morning after surgery. They made the whole hospital experience a positive one. This set me on the road to recovery and give me the confidence that I could make it through the days and weeks ahead. Thanks so much to you all for your help.

The staff really went out of there way to make sure you were comfortable and had your needs met. My pain requests were prompmtly met. They went out of there way to give you warm blankets, like when I was waiting for my upper GI after surgery. The short-stay center is only a cople of years old. Private rooms which were comfortable. The staff seemed to be happy, attentive and very caring.
I would strongly recommend this place.
PS-my husband said the cafeteria was pretty bad.

Having been a patient at Borgess several times in the past, I must say that they have improved immensely. While I still prefer Bronson, the nursing staff and Borgess was very good, as was most other departments. The beds are horrible though, not at all comfortable. Dietary is very slow, although I really didn't care but it did take an hour each time I ordered a broth or Instant Breakfast. Overall the care was fairly good.

There was never any issue over handling an overweight pt. Staff was very friendly in all departments. It is a first rate hospital that can handle any emergency. Pain is addressed immediately. The room had 2 separate doors, so the sleep area was apart from the nurses work area, that was then again separate from the hall noise. (Very private and quiet). Visiting hrs are till 8:30, but if there is a problem, you just have to let your nurse know, then security is informed and all is well. There is a new parking ramp attached to the hospital. No fees!! As far as overall value. This hospital is invaluable to our community!!
