Boston Medical Center Hospital
First I knew I would be very comfortable with my surgeon, but honestly I expected the worst as far as the hospital care was concerned. But I was pleasantly surprised. Everyone from admitting was so nice and actually had real conversations with you which was a great distraction. What especially surprised me was the great and attentive care I received from the nurses after surgery. I expected to only see the nurses when they needed to take my BP temp, etc. But they would come in to check on me just to see if I needed or wanted anything. When I would press the bell for them, they would respond within a minute or two. I had a few different nurses over my 3 day stay and they were so pleasant and responsive. I did stay in the ward that i think was considered elective surgery, so there were only about 30 patients or so. My only negative comment about my stay would be that as a bariatric patient we are required to walk often which is very difficult and sometimes a cleaning person or "egotistical" resident doctor would not move out of the way in the halls even though they know you've just had a procedure done and saw you coming their way or they would try to rush in front of you because they were in a hurry. I was walking one hallway and this specific resident doc was giving rounds proudly and one of the nurse told them " You see her, get out of her way!!!" She was awesome.
