I was a patient for 2 days and I must say I actually got rest! The first night, I had a room mate and we were very well paired. The second night, I had my own room. The staff was VERY helpful and very nice. They were professional, and kept things clean. Every one of them practiced safe handling of everything and washed/sanitized hands constantly. (This is a pet peeve of mine when people don't wash their hands before handling things). They acted like my needs were in no way a problem for them and I like that as well. Highly recommend Carle.
There is a beautiful large guest house located on the hospital grounds for family to stay in free of charge. I was in a private room (which everyone gets) my mother stayed with me the frist night and she was brought a nice relicing chair which lays out for sleeping. The nurses were ALL soooo nice! The hospital truly was awesome! The ONLY down side is that the main parking grage is out of service for repairs but should be opening soon (Aug 09') so you have to use the south parking garage or park at the fair grounds and take the hospital shuttle. They have internet access which my daughter used on her laptop while there and guest computers in the lobby. There are two gift shops, a cafe, and the eatery which has LOTS of options. I was given a pain pump like all WLS patients so there was no waiting on pain meds but the nurses check on me often and they really were so sweet! For a surgical experience it really was very very nice!
Of all the hospitals that any of my family members have been at, the Carle Hospital experience has been the best
Again, great staff. When I was in the ICU after my wls, they let people in to see me as needed and were always friendly and explained everything they were doing. They have been kind in every encounter.
the bariatric room was amazing!! made specifically for obese patients. Also, the chairs in the lobby, some are specifically designed for large patients as well. They are intermingled with the smaller chairs so as not to look intimidating. Its very well designed for us biggy peeps.
I MAY BE A LITTLE BYESSED BECAUSE I WORKED FOR CARLE FOR 3 YEARS HOWEVER WE HAVE BUILT A WHOLE FLOOR MOSTLY DEDICATED TO BARIACTRIC PTS W/ PRIVATE ROOMS LARGER SHOWERS AND BIGGER EQUIPMENT THE PLACE IS PRETTY AMAZING.
