This was a wonderful hospital. The staff was very caring. However, they were not experienced in gastric surgery. I even had the cafeteria try to bring me a regular shake and not a shake regarding my surgery. The nurses were very un-informed regarding my procedure and 99% of them never heard of the gastric verticle sleeve. When having my UGI after surgery the technician was telling the other technician that that was were they had reconnected my lower intestines. Untrue .. I didn't have the RNY. Then I was made to drink the barium which contains a soda like material which I cannot swallow after the surgery and naturally I threw it up. I should have gone to Weston, Florida for the surgery since they have a whole program from the time you walk in the door and complete followup. I only chose Naples because it was close to home since there were so many doctor appointments before and after surgery. I should not have clouded my judgement on distance and should have gone with the best care. I have had so many questions since but thank goodness for this site. Also, the NUT didn't even know about this site. That's so wrong. She should have been the first to tell me to join!
