Crestwood Medical Center Hospital

Dr. Mailapur is an excellent surgeon. He truly cares for his patients, and he wants you to be successful with your weight loss surgery. I had RNY Gastric bypass on July 16 and I have had zero complications. In fact, my surgery went so well that I went to see a movie just 3 days after surgery. He and his staff are very helpful with trying to get approved by your insurance companies and really help to expedite the process. If you follow the steps that Dr. Mailapur and his staff have a set up, it will really help with insurance approval. He also has a set plan for you to follow after surgery, and if you stick to the process You will be successful with your weight loss surgery. Following his plan I am about ten pounds away from goal weight just six months after surgery and I have lost nearly 150 pounds. If you live near the Huntsville area I recommend going and talking to Dr. Mailapur.

I had been researching the lap band for quite some time and knew this was the surgery for me. I attended Dr. Mailapur's mandatory seminar and was very impressed with him. He was very thorough and explained gastric bypass and lap band surgeries in great detail. All questions were answered and he was eager to meet everyone after the seminar. He wants all patients to be very educated regarding their surgery. I had heard excellent things about him through the grapevine as well. I called the next day to make an apppointment and the office staff were very friendly. At my consult, Dr. Mailapur let me know that he thought the gastric bypass would best help me achieve my weight loss goals. He said you must be very disciplined to be successful with the lap band. I appreciated his honesty with me. I still chose to have the band. He agreed to do the band for me, and again, explained that he felt gastric bypass was a better option for me. At least he was honest, and i knew where he stood and how he felt, so no surprises going in to surgery. The risks of surgery were discussed more than once before surgery. At every visit, he asked if I had any questions. I had surgery June 2, 2008. Surgery went perfect and i had a speedy recovery. I'm a nurse and was back to work in 10 days. I have lost 80 pounds so far and I'm gaining my LIFE back. He made this all possible and i am grateful. I have a long way to go, but i know i can do it! Dr. Mailapur emphasizes in great detail aftercare!! He wants to see you for life. You are never dismissed from his care. He also has a support group that meets once per month that he strongly encourages you to attend. I would give Dr. Mailapur an excellent rating. He is the surgeon you want in the operating room. He is such a perfectionist and very precise. His bedside manner is equally excellent. He is always professional and courteous. He is honest, but sincere. He truly cares about his patients and wants the best for them.

When I first started to research about gastric bypass and the more I talk to people Dr Mailapur's name would most always be mentioned and was highly recommended by everyone and how good he was and everyone proved to be right. When you first meet him he treats you as if he has known you for a long time, he is patient and makes you feel very relaxed...he definitely has a very successful track record and is very knowledgable and up to date in his profession...he is always very upbeat and encouraging and genuinely cares about his patients. After surgery when he went out to talk to my family he treated them the same way, sat down with them and answered all their questions...his office staff is wonderful also and very helpful...I have no regerts about having the surgery and would highly recommend Dr. Mailapur for any procedure you may need done...he is awesome...Panda C

I really liked Dr. Mailapur. He was very honest and straightforward. I have to admit I was a llittle taken aback by his straightforwardness in my need to lose weight prior to surgery. But I did it and and I am glad I had to because I know it made my recovery so much better.rnHis office stafff was kind and professional. I am grateful for his advice and surgical skills. I think he is the best. I trusted him fully and he was very thorough.rnHis beside manner was very compasionate.rnI would recommend him to anyone seeking weight loss surgery.

To start with, his staff were very friendly and very helpful. Then when we met Dr. Mailapur, he was very pleasant and when he began talking, it was like he was telling my life story. I was wanting surgery so I could live longer and be more healthier, and he knew what I was talking about. When we met at his office, he again went over all the pros and cons and he was very patient and took the time to answer all my questions. I would highly recommend him to anyone who wanted a better life. I look forward to him doing my surgery and seeing him again after my one year anniversary.

OMG!!! He is wonderful. He doesnt try to suger coat the surgery. He painted a real picture of life after bypass surgery. He is a wonderful Dr. and would recommend him to anyone in North Alabama. He gets to know each patient on an individual bases and care about my concerns. He is big on education before the surgery and aftercare. His staff is also very good. I have nothing but good things to say about him. He gave me a whole new life.

I had by gastric bypass on 7/9/08. It was the best choice I could have ever made for me and my daughter. I have a greater chance of living a long healthy life with her and growing old. I have so much energy to play with my little girl. I want so much more out of life now. My self esteem is almost through the roof, I can't imagine how it will be once I lose the rest of the extra weight. I am sure I have cut my chances of getting the nasty disease diabetes that runs in my family badly. I have had no complications for surgery. I am learning to eat slowly and all the other things that must be learned after the surgery. I would have the surgery over again if I was in the same position as before. I have nothing negative to say about the surgery or my surgeon. I was well informed on the surgeon and the surgery before and think it made a big difference.

the first time i met dr.malipar i felt at ease he was very good about learning about my past medical history and talked to me like i was an equal and treated me with the best of care.he did a great job on my surgery and i lost 145 lbs almost a year after my surgery i tore my omentum and herniated i went to several doctors and all i got was pain medican i finely went to dr.malipar and he put me in the hospital and found the hernia and saved my life if it had went on another 24 hours i waould have died thank god dr.malipar was caring enough to investagate my illness and not just give me pain meds and send me home ...he is a great doctor and person i love him he is my favorite doctor

I have been extraordinarily blessed. I watched my best friend, Anthony, go through the process of RNY with Dr. Mailapur in 2005. Anthony had a great experience with Dr. Mailapur and has had fantastic results (see his testimonial). rnI went with Anthony to a seminar and met Dr. Mailapur and his staff. I was very impressed. I started the process of approval, medically supervised weight loss, and preparation in 2006. By July 2007, I had my approval, but my weight loss had been fruitless. Dr. Mailapur told me that if I couldn't lose some weight, he would not schedule my surgery because of the risk. I was 448 pounds and devestated. I thought I was ready to have the surgery.rnBut Dr. Mailapur was supportive and honest. I needed to commit to the process. I made my decision and lost 61 pounds before surgery. On December 17, 2007 I was 387 pounds when Dr. Mailapur performed my surgery. The procedure only took 1 hour because of the hard work that I did to prepare. My recovery took less than a week and by Christmas I was with my family and had already lost several pounds.rnToday, October 10, 2008, a week shy of 10 months from surgery, and I weigh 219 pounds. I have lost a total of 168 pounds since surgery and 229 pounds overall (since July, 2007 - 16 months). rnIt hasn't always been easy, but it has always been a blessing. I have MY LIFE BACK! I work out 4-5 times per week. I have started kayaking again. I can buy clothes in regular stores. This is the life I always wanted and because of Dr. Mailapur, his staff, my friend Anthony, my wife and family, and a lot of hard work, I finally have it.rnAll I can say is THANK YOU to everyone who helped me.

I did a lot of research on the internet before I went to Dr. Mailapur's seminar. At the seminar I knew he was the doctor for me. He is very knowledgeable and explained everything very well in the seminar. When I went for my first office visit, Dr. Mailapur was very thorough about what he expected of me, and he answered all of my questions to my satisfaction. rnrnDr. Mailapur explained that this is not the cure-all for obesity if the patient does not do his/her part. Dr. Mailapur is very professional and also has a great bedside manner. He is genuinely concerned for his patients.rnrnMy surgery went very well. I had no complications from it and was very pleased. rnrnNow that Dr. Mailapur has done his part, it is up to me to do my part. Dr. Mailapur has emphasized this from the beginning. I am determined to follow the instructions given by him and the Dietitian, Linda Steakley, who was also knowledgeable and very informative.rnrnI have nothing negative to say about Dr. Mailapur. If I had the surgery to do over, I would still choose Dr. Mailapur.
