Deaconess Hospital Hospital

When the nurses wheeled me into my room the hit the door jam.the door, the wall, the t.v. all before I came to a painful stop. My legs were suppose to be rewrapped daily and in the four days I was there they were only done twice and that was on the third day. I had a hard time getting some of the things I asked for, like I asked for crystal light for 2 days and never recievied any, every drink that was brought into my room there was a straw in it which is not allowed, I could not remember the correct amount of liquids I was to take in and I asked the staff and they had no idea and personally I believe they should be taught the things that we need to know so they can help us as much as possible. I do have to say that the techs were always there trying to help, but there is so much tht these nurse's and tech have to learn about bariatric patients.

The nursing staff was really great. Since the Bariatric program is very new to the hospital, some kinks were not yet worked out. Nurses were great, but other depts. need a bit more education, dietary, x-ray (I was accidently dropped back into my wheel chair one day post op and my pain med pump had died on me during the process) I think they will get better. Besides, it's the nurses who really made all the difference!
