Denton Regional Medical Center Hospital
Most of the staff was very courteous, dont' get impatient waiting, sometines it does take them 10 -15 min to do someting, and it took 12 hours to get a heating pad when I got leg cramps, but onle nurse was very nice and kept heating a blanket to wrap up my legs.
they always tried to accomodate your requests and keep you comfortable.
For most part day to day it was fine. It was a hospital stay. Food was by need BLAND. But I am lactose intolerant...I was brought milk products. I was served a can of sweetened meal replacement that could have caused me to dump. (however I can read and did not drink it)The nurses were great. The nursing care was great. The room was excellent. My mother was able to be with me 5 days, 24 hours a day. However the staff got me confused with another person in hospital. Callers for me were told I was in ICU. Alarming some. Making it difficult for people that were calling from out of town to reach me or family members that were with me. (Most of the people checking on me were out of town) The problem was reported to staff on the 3rd day of my 5 day stay but was not corrected. Late on the 5th day it appeared that word had spread but I was checking out by then. Another problem was that hospital security was breeched an a person (later arrested) and she stole drugs from IV equipment. She was seen on my floor and later I had to have blood work done to test for HIV, hepatitis, etc because of the possibility of contamination. I had 2 sets of blood test prior to Aug 21 when I was informed that the person had been tested and was clean. No more tests were necessary. The hospital was paying for the testing but I was billed and sent notices and called for non payment. I know persons I was in contact with at hospital office took steps to prevent billing but it did not help. Finally I called a VP at hospital to complain and that stopped any contacting of me by hospital billing.
If I were as heavy as some persons that have this surgery the chairs with arms would be a problem.
