Since I had to be taken off of the Morphine drip that I could administer to myself I would lay in pain for hours sometimes because it would take so long for the nurse to bring something. I had surgery in the morning and that evening they came to take me to x-ray in order to check for leaks, I understand the necessity of this but I had to get out of bed and walk to the door and climb up on a gurney because it wouldn't fit in the door, then when I was taken to x-ray the x-ray tech insisted that I climb down off the gurney and climb up on the table even though the other people working in the lab tried to get him to let them put the table upright so it wouldn't be so high for me and then be lowered back flat, after he was finished and left they apologized and lifted me off the x-ray table and back onto the gurney. My room mate was a horror, I was stuck in the bed by the door right by the nurses station so lights shown in my eyes all night long, my room mate was so severely claustrophobic that she would become hysterical if she even thought the door was closed but would refuse to change beds with me. It was a relief when I was able to go home.

I was supposed to have a private room, they are usually required for bariatric patients, but I was in a room with a little, older lady who contstantly had company and who got upset, cried and constantly called the nurses desk asking if she was dying. The beds were terribly uncomfortable. Not being able to move very well or get into a comfortable sleeping position made it much worse. My IV infiltrated twice. The first time in my arm, and then the last time in my hand. My hand swelled up so bad it looked like a grapefruit. I was one of the last RNY patients they had. I honestly don't remember my nurses. I don't remember anything from the first 24 hours. LOL If I never have to go back to that hospital again, it will be too soon. I've never liked it. They were horrible when my niece was born there 5 years ago, and they haven't changed.

Debbie was my nurse when I got to my room. She was incredible. Great care, then from 7 pm when she left on it was horrible. I had no access to a restroom, they brought me a potty chair and my room was by the door which they left open so the light from the hall was in my face when I was trying to sleep. Then if I was to get asleep they would come in to do something with my roommate, like change her colostomy bag - that was a great smell - thought I would throw up as I was already nauseous. Then they would come back aboutan hour later to do vitals, then 30 min. later to check on pain. Just about the time you would get back asleep, they would wake you up. I was an emotional wreck yesterday. The nurse aide used my new robe to wipe up my tray - then said she would take it home and wash it. I told her I don't think so. I hadn't even worn it yet. Then the 3 hours to wait to be released and another 20 minutes to wait on a wheelchair. There are more experiences - but these were some of the worse - oh yea, my IV it was bleeding out, didn't bother to restart it. Do I need to go on?

They were wonderful. I didn't get much sleep because of the numerous tests and treatments, but I know this is what is required of them. Otherwise, they are GREAT.

I was not happy about having a semi private room, I was not safe. I was heavily sedated and the roommate was not a quality person, her boyfriend was there with her all the time, and he was scary. I was left sometimes in the room alone, and my mother was scared for me. This man never left, he slept in her bed and she was gone for hours at a time smoking. She was gross and so was he, and my nurses tried to get him to leave and he would not. The woman was not too sick, she was able to leave for hours at a time and go and smoke. She would curse and caused a lot of problems. It was horrible, they finally moved me the next night after I asked. I think the hospital should have kicked them both out, it was horrible and scary. More so when you cannot get up and move or scream.
