LA Metropolitan Hospital Hospital
Corners were clean, but underneath it all was a very old building. No hot water to the sink, and the first room I was in didn't have sink water at all. Woken up by emergency vehicles all night long. Had a great corner room to myself after surgery, which I loved. Neighborhood not great, and I was hoping to have my surgery fears alleviated by some sort of club med hospital, but the state of the hospital just made me more anxious. I almost didn't let my husband leave without me that first night. Nursing staff, with a few exceptions, seemed like they were mostly trained overseas and were in some sort of program to assimilate to American nursing. Kinda frustrating at times. They didn't always know why my IV machine kept beeping. IV machine was old and wouldn't hold a charge when I wanted to walk around. IF it weren't for the docs and majority of nice people at the hospital, it would have been a more frightening stay.
I heard sirens all night long as the Hospital sits in the worst Crack and crime area, The equipment is old and barley working, example only cold water to sinks in patient's bathroom. I would never choose this hospital or surgeon again, not because of Dr Valles, but because of the Hospital itself. It is one step above a county hospital and one step below a regular hospital. There was even a small fire in the Hospital and I was choking on smoke and woke up. They told me it was a firedrill even with the lL.A. Firetruck outside of my window. If you are stuck with going here note there are some real awsome nurses that will take care of you. The environment is the real negative issue.
