I HAD GASTRIC BYPASS AT LAWERENCE MEMORIAL HOSPITAL ON OCT 28, 2008. DR RANDALL PERFORMED IT.. AS HE DID AN AMAZING JOB AND HIS BED SIDE MANNERS WAS AMAZING, SADLY HIS STAFF WASNT SO GREAT... FIRTS BAD THING, MY OXYGEN WAS VERY LOW AND THEY NEED TO GIVE ME A NEB TREATMENT AND TOLD MY SISTER AND I TO CALL WHEN I WAS DONE WITH THE TREATMENT SO THEY COULD HOOK ME BACK TO OXYGEN, IT TOOK THEM 2 HOURS TO COME DO THAT! AS FAR AS PAIN MANAGEMENT THE FIRST NIGHT I TOLD THEM THAT THE MEDICINE WAS MAKING ME SICK AND THE NURSE TOLD ME I WOULD HAVE TO DEAL WITH IT TELL DR RANDALL CAME THE NEXT MORNING AND WROTE SOMETHING DIFFERENT ( DR RANDALL WAS FURIOUS!)SO I SUFFERED THE WHOLE NIGHT IN PAIN. THEN THE DAY I WASBEING DISCHARGED I WAS WAITING FOR THE NURSE TO HELP ME IN BED BC I WAS SITTING UP WHICH IS RECOMMENDED, BUT I NEEDED TO LAY DOWN AND THE NURSE NEVER CAME AT ALL AFTER PAGING HER SEVERAL TIMES, MY HUSBAND CAME AND HELPED ME. THEN MY FINAL STRAW WAS WHEN I WAS BEING DISCHARGED THE VOLENTEER CAME WITH A BROKEN WHEEL CHAIR( NO FOOT RESTS) AND TOLD ME TO HOLD MY FEET UP, I LOST MY MIND AND STARTED YELLING AND HER RESPONSE WAS SO U DONT WANT THIS ONE? I WAS LIKE AGAINI JUST HAD MAJOR SURGERY ON MY STOMACH WTH IS WRONG WITH U.. SHE BUMPED ME INTO EVERY WALL AND WAS CONCERNED THAT MY 10 MONTH OLD SON DIDNT HAVE A JACKET ON WHEN IT WAS 75 DEGREES.. I TOLD HER NEVER MIND ABOUT MY SON AND WORRY ABOUT ACTUALLY DOING UR JOB RIGHT.. NEVER AGAIN WILL I EVER HAVE AN INPATIENT STAY THERE AGAIN.. JUST SIMPLY AWFUL

Every step of the way the staff made me comfortable and they were very caring. I especially loved nurse Ellie and student nurse Kristen.

my surgeon was great but other than one or two nurses they all were horrible
