Dr Lamar is very helpful. He allows you to ask all the questions you have. He takes his time explaining the procedure, the facts, and answers all questions. His office staff and very nice. They are helpful when I call in with questions and concerns. I have called many times for different reasons and they have always been very courteous. They make sure my question is answered. My surgery is scheduled for August 15th. I will update on the surgery once it is all done. My surgery went well. Dr. Lamar was awesome. No complications.

Awesome, I had nothing but positive things from Dr. Lamar and his staff. Monique, his nurse, has been a comfort to me, answering any questions that I had postoperatively. The office staff and Linda the coordinator are stupendous at what they do. I would recommend them to anyone, they are all stars in my book!

From the first minute of my consult with Dr. Doraiswamy I knew he was going to be my surgeon. He was very professional and attentive to my needs. When I told him I was interested in the Sleeve he asked me questions about the procedure making sure I knew what I was getting into. Once our consult was over we both agreed that the Sleeve would be the best option for me.

His staff at his Office are very easy to work with and professional. His Bariatric group is a Center of Excellence also. They offer support groups and nutritional support too.

The day of my surgery, I arrived at Arcadia Methodist Hospital at 5:45am. I was prepped for surgery by the AMAZING staff there. I met with him before surgery and asked him last minute questions which he answered very thoroughly. I had no fear when they wheeled me into the O.R. and in a blink I was awake in recovery.

Dr. Doraiswamy saw me every morning I was in the hospital, a total of 3 days. He was very caring and concerned. If he wasn't there he was calling my nurse and making sure I was alright. He would always give me options and cared about my needs.

All in all he's an amazing and caring surgeon. I wouldn't have chosen anyone else to go through this journey with. If you are in Southern California and searching for a Bariatric surgeon who is excellent and caring you've found him.

Dr. Doraiswamy is a wonderful surgeon. After attending a seminar I made an appointment with him. The bariatric group he is with was recommended by my oncologist surgeon at City of Hope so I went into this with a lot of confidence. My first impression is that he is very young but he did not rush me and answered all my questions. I didn't have a lot of questions because I had done an enormous amount of research online before hand. When I came back to see the coordinator Dr. Doraiswamy was there and even tho I had only met him once he recognized me right away. Day of surgery I saw him before and after surgery and even tho he was seeing patients in the office the day after he also stopped by the hospital to see me. At follow up appointments he takes as much time as you need and is very nice. My only complaint would be about the surgery coordinator. She didn't seem to stay on top of things and had to physically go through everything in my file every time I called. Other than that the entire office staff including the coordinator is very nice.

Dr LaMar is truly amazing. He is a very caring and supportive doctor. His staff is great!!! They were very upfront and honest about the risks, and answered all my questions abou the surgery. Linda helped me get my insurance authorization though. I had a problem arise in my pre-op testing and had to have a gastrectomy. Linda and Dr LaMar worked together to get my insurance approval!! They were very persistant and now I am well on my way to losing weight. In the hospital I had a small problem, Dr LaMar was right on top of it, made sure I was comfortable, and took a few extra tests, and made sure I was fine before being discharged!! I received a follow up call from his staff checking in on me to make sure everything was going fine with my sleeve!! I totally recommend his staff highly!! They are so pleasant, in the office and in the hospital!! Thank you Dr LaMar for giving me my life back!!!

I first me Dr. Doraiswamy on July of 2008 in the emergency room. He was very comforting and let me know that I would need to have my Gallbladder and my appendix removed. He was awesome kept me on pain meds all night the next morning came in to see me and did my surgery an hour later. I went to see him after my surgery and found out he was a bariatric surgeon so I discussed with him at that time about weight loss surgery. I waited for my primary doctor to start submitting paperwork. Again I saw Dr. Doraiswamy in November of 2009 because of a hernia I had. He once again operated on me and repaired my hernia. He remembered me and again spoke to me about having weight loss surgery. After jumping through many hoops, here I am 10 days from surgery. Everyone on his staff is very supportive from his nurses, nutritionist, to his front office staff. Doctor Doraiswamy is more than a doctor, he treats you like family and I would strongly recommend him to everyone. This is a journey that I know he is happy to share with me and make possible.

My first impression of Dr. LaMar is that he is no nonsense. That hasn't changed. The office staff is wonderful. New patients should really do their research before they go and see him so that they can ask informed questions. He REALLY emphasizes after care and sticking tot he plan. He was very honest abotu the risks of surgery. I believe his surgical competence is slightly better than his bedside manner.

Bariatric coordinator is stretched very thin. She and I have not communicated well on the phone, however when you meet with her in person she will give you all of her attention. There is some conflicting nutrition information on the packets given to you at the office and the packet given to you at the hospital. Dr. LaMar is very considerate and thorough. He is very absolute on the diet information and can conflict with the office nutritionist. Apparently there is a 1 in 5 failure rate which I was never told. i guess I'm that 1. please don't judge me on eating as I have seen their nutritionist who is the only one from this office who has offered me support.. I have run several races and a half marathon and still have only lost 65 lbs. I have 60 to loose. This failure seems to be ok with the rest of the surgeons. I have been complaining about never feeling full for the first 6 months after the surgery and not having the tool that RNY was supposed to bring to my life. Instead I was told by Dr. Pehrsson to see a therapist. If that would help than surgery would be unnecessary. I think i may go in for a DS with a doctor who at least pretends to care.
