The hospital was able to meet my needs. The were slightly understaffed but they still managed to tend to all me needs.

I had a fabulous nurse the day of post op. She made me feel safe, well cared for and comfortable. The next nurs was the nurse from hell!. She was cold, distant, unresponsive to my needs and argumentative. Also, the nurses in the area where you go to prepare for surgery were terrible. They tried to make me put a regular sized gown on and at 340 lbs that just wasnt going to work. When I asked for a large patient gown, I was told there weren't any there. Huh? No fat patient gowns in a hospital that does fat patient surgery? I told her to find one. I got an attitude right away from that. I felt if they can;t provide me with something simple as a fat lady gown, whats the rest of the stay going to be like. Then I found out the anesthesia would be given by a doctor other thatn the one I had met and agreed to. Didn't like that. I found the beds hard and uncomfortable. I asked for an eggcrate mattress and I swear to God, it took me three hours, and two administrators before I could get one. It was ridiculous! Also, I had some strange colored urine..it was florescent pink, and I had hardly put any urine out at all. I asked the nurse, and she shrugged and said it wasnt a problem. Excuse me, I'm an RN and when a post op patient puts out 30cc of urine in 12 hours, THATS a problem. I had to demand they contact my surgeon, and at first they told me they were not going to call the doctor in the middle of the night for that. I raised the roof and told them I was sighning out AMA and would transfer to another hospital because I did not feel safe. It wasn't until I demaded the AMA papers that the nurse supervisor was called and things were straightened out. I''l tell you, I wold NOT reccomend this hospital for surgery. I would NOT go back there for anything.

Everyone in Pre-Op, OR, PACU, Bariatric Unit in this hospital are excellent. Very caring and helpful.

Most things were great. Nursing staff didn't focus enough on basic comfort things like ice chips, wet cloths etc. especially immediately after the surgery.

The one bad thing that happened there was that I ended up on the recovery floor with the nurse from HELL. Just having the operation I have never been so scaried of a person as I was of her I felt she could hurt me. So I just keep my mouth shut and did not bother her for help when needed and just waited for my wife to help me the next morning. Luckily I had her only one night. I still thank the good Lord for that!!! The rest of the staff was great I could not ask for better unless it was Florance Nighting herself.

I was never cleaned up, my sheets were never changed.. I was there 4 days... my paperwork for a private room was "lost" so I had to share a room with an elderly patient who had several issues including loose bowels and a bedpan to arguing episodes with the nurses. I was told as soon as I was put in the "semi-private" room they had lost my paperwork for the private room until an hour before placement, but would be moving me to a private room as soon as one became available..... The patients surgery that took place after mine was convienently given a private room tho. I was told I was not aloud to have water only ice chips and did not receive my water mug until discharge. Needless to say, I was not happy with my stay... not to mention I went home with rashes that I have never experienced before.... I could continue, but I think you have gotten my point by now !!
