my pre-op care and staff were excellent. They were very comforting and atentive to any anxiety or fear of surgery. My recovery care right out of surgery was excellent as well as the person who was taking care of me. The 1st nurse I was given to care for me once I was in my own private room (a BIG PLUS) was not as pleasant. She was I guess you would say "friendly" but didnt really seem like she knew what she was doing. My vitals were supposed to being read every 15 min from machines I was hooked up to including B.P. which I do have HIGH B.P. and they were not working properly for hrs+ and she seemed like it was no big deal and not important. Going to the bathroom for the first time she did not offer to assist me or support me at all. All she talked about was taking her "lunch hour" and getting a break. The nighttime nurse was totally opposite and gave me good care. The person who came in every so often to check my vitals besides my regular nurse was not so friendly. She barely spoke and I dont ever think I saw an expression on her face she always seemed too big in a hurry to pay me any attention other than the technical part of her job. Overall I was not "DISPLEASED" but there were definetly some areas that could have been more pleasant and comfortable.

I was in "recovery" for 5+ hours because they had no bed to put me in. This was a scheduled surgery. When I finally got into my room, there were two dark stains on my mattress covering (no bottom sheet) & I asked for a sheet - never got one. The mattress on the bed was very uncomfortable, as was the chair. Hubby had to walk me as staff wasn't too concerned if I walked or not. I used my morphine drip only 6 times - cannot take morphine as it gives me horrible headaches, but couldn't get anyone to give me anything else for pain and/or headache. Very noisy - neither husband or myself could get any rest/sleep.

This was an excellent hospital, my husband and I were greatly impressed, they were so accommodating and caring.

I had a more difficult stay as I was taken to ICU upset I was not allowed up after surgery to use restroom that didnt go well with me but staff was nice in ICU. its when they moved me to bariatric floor that I had terrible nursing staff on 2nd shift if you work in this country at least speak the language so americans can understand you and have respect for americans and not think you are better than anyone else.

I would not want to go back to Nortons.

I was overall pleased with my stay at norton's and many of the nurses were wonderful. I would recommend this hospital and my doctor to anyone.

Norton was fabulous, The nurses are awesome and they ere very consoling. The staff is extremely competant, i would trust them again with my life.
