Parkway Medical Center (PMC) has served the Decatur area for more than 65 years.  Originally called the Baugh Wiley Hospital, PMC has deep roots in Decatur.  In 1974, PMC relocated to our current campus on the growing side of Decatur close to residential communities, major industrial parks and across the street from Colonial Mall.  Our central location provides excellent ease of access for physicians and their patients.       PMC is focused on Satisfaction…   The Administration of PMC believes that Patient and Physician Satisfaction are heavily influenced by the satisfaction of our employees.  In 2002, PMC began a quest to become a “premier place to work” for professionals living in our area. Near the beginning of 2003, 94% of our employees surveyed stated they were “satisfied” or “very satisfied” with their employment.  Although that is significantly higher than the national average, we are not willing to accept that is the best we can achieve.  Through effective communication and leadership, we have found satisfaction continues to improve.  We are well on the way to our goal.     Additionally, we survey patient and physician satisfaction regularly to identify opportunities to improve. Your opinion will matter!      PMC is focused on Quality...     Quality improvement is a daily activity for PMC and its team of professionals.  In 2003 during our most recent accreditation survey by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), PMC scored an impressive 98 out of 100 with no significant recommendations for improvement.  This places PMC in the top ten percent of hospitals nationwide.  The key to our success is meaningful daily quality improvement. These plans connect physician recruitment, organizational service improvement and product line development into a well designed plan for growth and success.  You have the opportunity to be a part of our planning process and our subsequent success by joining the PMC team.   Services   PMC offers a wide array of services to meet the needs of the community.  Our product lines include but are not limited to: medical services, surgical services, outpatient surgery, X-ray, Fluoroscopy, MRI, Multi-slice CT, Ultrasound, Mammography, Bone Densitometry, Stress Testing, EKG, EEG, Respiratory Body Box Testing, extensive Laboratory testing and other services to support your practices. Streamlined registration for these services, central scheduling and an internet based test ordering component help you achieve efficiency and make your patients happy!  Additionally, we plan to add electronic results reporting during the next year.
