Presbyterian Dallas Hospital

The nursing staff was fantastic, but they are understaffed. Discharge was the worst. The surgeon came to discharge me, but the nurses would not allow me to leave, claiming that I would be AMA if I left. It caused us to not arrive at my home until about 9 pm the day I was discharged. I only live 15 minutes away and this was my third day in the hospital so we were definitely annoyed by this. Overall, however, you will receive great care at this facility. If you are short, you want to figure out how to deflate the bariatric bed before climbing in and out. They have no accommodations for short people who have to get in and out of bed. Also, beware the cranberry juice cocktail. It is NOT low sugar.

I had a lot of trouble getting nurses to respond to me. I am a quiet person, do not complain. I should have been an ideal patient. Maybe that's why they chose to take their time changing my IV bag, getting me pain meds & gas meds. I had one nurse that was very caring. Her name was Mandy Lu. I liked her a lot.
Check out time was supposed to be 11am. My dr released me at 10:30. When I asked the nurse 2 hrs later when I was going to be discharged from the hospital, she acted like she was surprised that I wanted to leave. She also acted like it was a lot of trouble to get me discharged. I didn't understand that at all. Did they expect me to stay forever? I finally got to leave the hospital around 1:30.
