Scripps Green Hospital - La Jolla Hospital
From the moment I came in for surgery all the staff I was around treated me with kindness, understanding, respect, and professionalism. I was never in pain the nurses were quick to answer my calls and were regularly checking in on me. The hospital is beautiful and very clean, and I was lucky enough to have a room of my own after surgery. My husband was allowed to stay with me the entire time, and they would have brought him a cot if he wanted to stay but he had to go home to our son. They didn't kick visitors out right at 8pm they have a pretty lenient visitors policy. Every step someone was there to talk with me before surgery and afterwards. I was so happy to be able to have this hospital for my surgery.
From the moment I came for my preop work until the moment I was discharged, I was treated with kindness, respect, and professionalism. I was never in pain. The hospital is beautiful and very clean. The nursing staff was extremely responsive. My husband was allowed to stay with me the entire time, and they even brought him in a cot.
My only concern (back in 1999 when I had this surgery) was that the nursing staff had NO IDEA about pain medications for WLS patients. They gave me the wrong stuff TWICE and insisted I take it; making me incredibly ill for several hours. Now in 2007 I'm confident that they have been more properly educated into what a WLS patient can take in terms of oral medications and pain management.
