St. Elizabeth Hospital Hospital
The hospital was clean and comfortable for the most part. Pre surgery was very nice every one tried to make me comfortable. They explained what was happening and what to expect. The same was true in recovery.
After surgery, many of the nurses were unresponsive and did not answer call button for up to half an hour. At times I felt as if I were alone except at shift change. I had trouble getting help to and from the bathroom, getting the drain emptied and on one night waited 45 minutes for a blanket..burrr.
I only saw a physical therapist 2 times during my stay. My understanding was that they would come twice a day to help me get up and around. One of them commented that they were supposed to be there but "did not get around to it".(huh?)
The IV machines went off all the time and it would take a long time for th enurse to reset it...can't sleep with one of those things goin off next to your head.
I HAD A VERY GOOD STAY, I ENDED UP STAYING ABOUT 5 DAYS, DUE TO A FEVER. THE NURSES WERE GREAT, AND SO WERE THE AIDES. THE ONLY PROBLEM I HAD THE WHOLE TIME WAS... AN AIDE TELLING ME I COULDN'T GET UP, SHE HAD OTHER THINGS TO DO AND DIDN'T HAVE TIME TO HELP ME UP, IT WAS MY 2NS DAY AFTER SURGERY AND I WAS IN MISERY AND NEEDED TO GET UP, THEN!!!! IT WAS AWFUL, I WAS IN TEARS, BUT EVERYTHING ELSE WAS GOOD- VERY NICE STAFF!
I was disturbed by the "I don't care" attitude of care givers at this facility. I've seen animals treated better than myself and my roomate! I also noticed that after calling for a nurse and getting NO response for at least 3 hours that once a guest/visitor comes all the sudden the nurse shows up! hmmmm interesting makes you think about being more vigiliant when it comes to visting family members who have been hospitalized at least at St. E's anyways!
