St Joseph's Health Centre - Charlton Campus Hospital

The post op was good and they helped calm my nerves while I was going through the testing. The day of my surgery everyone was very attentive and made me feel at ease. While in the hospital, when I rang for a nurse to administer pain meds they answered right away and someone was in my room within 5 min to help me become more comfortable. I actually sat and had a personal conversation with my day time nurse which made me feel as if I wasn't just a patient. She was amazing. Dr. Jackson was the man that put me into a very nice slumber and before I fell asleep asked me how my headache was. My brief encounter with Dr. Anvari, he seemed very nice and left me with very small scars! So to the St Joes bariatric team, thank you!

I've never had an overnight stay in a hospital before (let alone surgery) so I had no idea what to expect. From the moment I arrived at 6:00am the morning of my surgery to the time I was discharged at 10:00am 2 mornings later, my experience was wonderful - considering why I was there. The team who lead me to the OR was cheery and funny. The day time nurses were helpful and explained everything they were doing. The overnight nurse was calm and quiet while attending to the other patient in my room. The other staff members - PSW's, cafeteria staff, nursing students - were all wonderful as well. I don't think my stay could have been any better. Thank you St.Joe's!!

My stay at this hospital was one that I will never forget. The nurses were fantastic and friendly. They made sure you had everything you needed. They were there to give you pointers if you needed something or had any questions. They were very accommodating. As for my Surgeon. Dr. Scott Gmora, was a saint and still is! I have never met another doctor so friendly, personable and genuinely concerned about their patients well being. I have never had a surgeon some see me more than once after a surgery. Dr. Scott Gmora would come and see me between 2 and 3 times a day and on top of that, his office called the day after surgery to make sure I was doing alright. You don't see that every day. Also he came and seen me for my one week checkup even though he didn't have too. He is a gem to our health care system, and I hope that anyone else that needs a VSG or RNY will get him. You won't be disappointed!! :)

This Bariatric program that the St. Joseph's Hospital (Hamilton, Ontario, Canada) has is amazing. They take good care of you and the pre-op tests and information sessions given were amazing. I felt totally safe in their hands. When I left the hospital I had a bad day the next day and one of the nurses called me at home to help me through it. I just loved them.

My overall experience here was very good. I enjoyed all my nurses. I didn't have one bad nurse at all. They were always introducing themselves to me at the start of their shifts and letting me know what they needed to do along the way. I found that they were right on top of things. The only thing that did bother me I guess was not being able to sleep at night because of all the noise from beepers, lights, and carts being rolled along the floors and a noisy neighbor. Things that really can't be helped.
