St Luke West Hospital

Everyone seemed to care about my needs.

Over the years, I had heard people say they didn't care for St. Luke so I was a bit apprehensive prior to surgery. However once I went for tests, an outpatient procedure and finally surgery, I feel that St. Luke is a wonderful facility. I never had any problems with accommodations due to my weight and I never felt I was treated poorly because of my weight.

I actually had a good experience. Better than I thought.

REVISED 2009: I came here because this is where my doctor was. The Administration here are IDIOTS. I will not ever go back here again after the complete disregard to the patients of Dr. Sonnanstine. If this hospital cared at all about the patient's it serves, it would have handled things differently. Dr. Tom has/had the most comprehensive pre and post op program of any other bariatric doctors or practices in this area. That is one of the reasons I chose him. He asked me to make a life long committment and I did. He agreed to get me through this..and he did. The hospital, on the other hand, had the nerve to try to change the way he was running this fantastic program. Why? It was working. He was busy. He was bringing in lots of money and actually helping people. He CARES about us. He cheers our successes and even frowns when we are not following the program. Not being successful was not an option to him. So, why did he not have support? I have no clue but I hope that it backfires. Between my family and myself, we have brought in so many referrals to this hospital and program. I am embarrassed now that I did this. I will be joinging Georgetown's Bariatric practice as soon as he is there. I hope that every single patient will also follow suit. If you want a hospital to give a damn about its patient's...DO NOT GO TO ST. LUKE!!!

Everyone was very good to me. I have no complaints at all. They responded quickly when I called them. They left me alone to sleep when I needed to rest. I appreciate that alot!!

I felt the hospital staff was caring and compasonite. I would highly recommend Dr. Sonnenstien and the Tri State Surgical Weight loss Center

I was in semi private room, but they moved the other bed out of the room. Making it a private room. The problem was the patient across the hall from me was having major issues, i.e. crying out in pain, coughing, vomiting, and I feel that if I had not had the surgeon I did; I could have been that person. St. Luke
West needs to accommodate their patients and make sure they are getting the care that they need. A hospital should be in the business to help make sick people well, not make them sicker. I do not recommend this hospital. I will be having all other surgeries at St. Elizabeth South, my favorite hospital.

If I had to go to a hospital SLW would be it. The staff is sensitive to the physical and support that obese people need when going into a hospital.

Great hospital, Excellent staff. The Docs and nurses are amazing. The great thing about this hospital is alot of the nurses that care for you while you are there have also had weight loss surgery. This is awesome because they know exactly what their bariatric patients are going through... which also means better care!
