St. Mary's Regional Medical Center (COE) Hospital
Nursing staff was not responsive, I begged to take a shower the day after surgery and was told that the next shift had to do it. My sheets were never cahnged or staightened, was never offered a wash cloth and towel to clean myself with. The vitals signs monitor malfunctioned and alarmed for hours no one checked on me, the IV would alarm and again no one checked on me, the electric bed broke, the compression boots malfunctioned and my pain medication was always at least 45 minutes to 1.5 hours late even when I asked for it. The broth they brought was ice cold and my water pitcher was never refilled. The level of care was horrible.
Awesome!
I am thinking I might want to spend a week there for vacation - great place!
I had a RNY performed in Nov. 2001. At the time my surgery was performed the floor they used for wls was full so I was put in a room on the main floor. My nurses did not know anything about my type of surgery and apparently neither did the kitchen. They did not have me walking (I had to ask to walk). You would not believe the food they gave me. Right after the surgery, they gave me mashed potatoes, green beans, sweet potatoes and a protein drink (all at one meal). One of the nurses ask me if I wanted a shower, of course, I said yes. She walked me to the shower area and left me. Didn't come back to get me and I had to find my way back to my room. (I was on drugs at this time...so I was very dizzy!). There were other things that happened but these come to mind now. I did mention all this to the doctor and he was supposed to address these items. Hopefully, they have their act together now.
