It was a very good experience. They were well equipped and looked after my needs very well. I would rather had a private room, but other than that it was wonderful.

Generally, I have always loved STPH. I have had very sad moments there and the staff was nothing short of excellent. This last stay surprised me. I don't think my experience is the typical after surgery experience.

I was disappointed that the hospital did not follow up with me with a phone call the following day like most hospitals usually do the day after surgery.

St. Tammany was unable to take my blood pressure due to no large cuffs in their hospital I was told. My wt at the time of surgery was 250. Their are much larger patients having a bariatric procedure. It took 3 hrs for pain meds the day of surgery. I asked for medication for a headache and recieved it the next day 18 hrs. later. The nurses always looked out of breath, so the staffing must have been poor. I was told by my surgean and dietician to drink 2-4 ounces of clear fluidsevery hour after surgery. The nurses did not let me have clear liquids till the next day and only 1 ounce per hour. I could go on and on. Last word poor care and lack of education on part of the staff on how to care for gastric bypass. The nurses were friendly and nice however. They must have been short staffed due to the fact it took a long time for any requests.

they are all kind, everyone is well trained, everyone seems to be genuinely concerned for your wellbeing i was a nursing asst for several years, the cna's need to be commended i dont believe they are thanked enough i have had so many wonderful nurses and cna's and doctors at st tammany i received personalized care, respect no matter how it was being paid for, had medicaid at one time, this place all together seems like God himself has his hands on everyone there, another point no one at st tammany acted cocky or stuck up either and if you dont understand whats going on someone will be more than happy to explain so you can understand
